Mahendra Chakkravarthy said, "Ayanar! What is this? Isn't what I heard perverse?"  Saying that he got down from the horse.

"By the God's grace there is no danger, Lord!"  said the Ayanar.

"Is Sivagami really scared?"  asked the Emperor.

"Sivagami is not afraid. She thinks it's all funny!"  Said Ayanar, looking with loving eyes at Sivagami, who was humbly standing behind him.

Then the emperor looked at her with compassion and said, "Sivagami! Why do you look sad? Are you sorry that I left in the middle of the performance?"  said.
Sivakami's face was blossomed with a smile and she remained silent.

Then Ayanar said, "Pallavendra! Doesn't Sivagami know that much? There must have been something very important reason..."

"Yes, Ayanar! It is a very important matter. I will tell you everything in detail later. When I came out after the Ministry consultation, I inquired about you. I found that you had left. Why did you leave in such a hurry?" the Emperor asked.

"I can begin my work in the morning only if I go home at night? I set out not to waste a single day, Lord!"

"Yes; you can't stay a single day without your divine sculpture. Do you still mean to go into the night?"

"Yes, Pallavendra! The moon shines like bright day; it is better to go at night."

"Looking at the moon, I want to come with you too, but that's impossible. I'll come tomorrow or the day after," the Emperor looked back.

Then Narasimhavarman, who was riding another white horse behind the emperor, jumped down from his horse and came to the emperor's side, "Father! Didn't you inquire about the young man who threw the spear on the elephant?"  After saying that, he looked at Ayanar and asked, "Who is that lad? Where did he go? Do you know anything?" he asked.

Ayanar said, "I didn't know. he disappeared like lightning after he threw spear. But because of his sudden disappearance, he survived. He seemed like the pilgrim."

Crown Prince, while talking to Ayanar, his eyes only fell on Sivagami behind Ayanar.

Sivagami, who had seen NarasimhaVarmar on his horse a short distance away, was now staring at the earth without looking at him. The broken spear that had slipped from her hand lay on the ground next to her, just ahead.  Narasimha Varma saw it and said, "Sivagami! What is this?" Asking that, he went near her.

Sivagami stepped back a little, picked up the broken spear from a floor and held it out to him.  When Narasimhavarma bought it, his fingers must have touched Sivagami's fingers.  This was to be inferred from the fact that they hastened away like they were stung by a scorpion.

Narasimha Varma somehow managed to control the palpitation in his body and looked at the Ayanar, "Is it this spear that saved you from the wrath of the rogue elephant, Ayanar?"  He asked.

"Yes, Pallava Kumara!"  Before Ayanar could say anything else, Mamallar looked at his father and said, "Father! We must find the owner of this spear. If he had not committed such a heroic deed at the right time, we would have lost the great sculptor of the Pallava Empire?" said.

To which the emperor said, "Only the great sculptor? We have lost the greatest Dancer of the Pallava Empire! We must find that hero. It is already too late for them! So let them leave" After saying that, he looked at Sivakami and said, "Child! Your dance was amazing today. I just couldn't watch the whole perfomance."

Then he said to her father, "Ayanar! I have many things to discuss with you. I will come to Mamallapuram (It was one of two major port cities in the Pallava kingdom) soon. Now go carefully."

Knowing that Ayanar and his daughter would not get on the palanquin until he leaves, the emperor hurriedly mounted his horse.  Narasimha Varma also mounted his horse.

Before the horses set off, Mahendra Pallavar beckoned to one of the soldiers standing behind him and said, "Whoever the young man may be who has just arrived from out of city, he must be captured tonight and brought to the palace tomorrow; convey this order to the head of the city guard at once!"  He declared that.

When Chakravarthy and Prince leave there, Ayanar and Sivagami get into their Palanquin.  Surrounded by guards, the palanquin made its way towards the east gate of the Kanchi Fort.

Here ends the third chapter of first volume.
