Dear gentle readers, I hope all of you are doing well. There is something always happening in the world around us. We just need a fine eye and a compassionate heart to take note of all the little things. Today I will share one of my mundane experiences in a passenger train.
The local train was running through the villages, mudy fields, and small towns. I was enjoying the cool breeze sitting on the window seat. Suddenly, a maniac figure jumped into the train. The man was almost naked, guarding his pelvic region with a piece of ragged cloth. His hair and skin were dark. It was impossible to ascertain his skin colour, as dirt created a layer on his skin. The man seems to have not bathed for a long time. His eyes were converging insanity. Passengers were startled by his sudden arrival.
The insane being passed quickly through the compartment. The lunatic followed a peanut seller. I thought he wanted some peanuts. After a few minutes, the man came back. He passed us cleaning the compartment with cardboard. The maniac came back, asking for a few coins. His eyes and body language were not of a begger. The man did not wait for the time to allow passengers to respond. He moved like a hurricane.
My heart saddened to see his misery. The Blue Lord's words from the sacred Gita rang in my mind. Lord Krishna revealed that every life form is a manifestation of his divine energy. I assumed that may be a dignified being suffering because of some bad karma.
In no time, the man vanished from my sight. The train moved in its own course. I disembarked at the junction station for catching a connecting train. I was feeling hungry, so I walked in the platform to buy some peanuts. Suddenly I startled to see the lunatic was on the platform. He was standing nonchalantly, unaware of the crowd in the station.
Passengers passing him with an unpleasant expression. My spouse suggested I give a coin to the strange man. I was sceptical. The man might throw the coin. I was contemplating buying some food for him. I was a little bit hesitant, but finally bought a small packet of biscuits. I was about to hand it over to the odd man. The insane man behaved strangely. The biscuits fell from my hand. He quickly grabbed the packet. By that time, my train had arrived at the platform. I rushed to get the train with worry for the unknown man.
