Ram Sethu' is Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's fifth film released this year. Although the star's repeated failures have created concern among the audience, the film is attracting attention because of the story associated with Ram Sethu. The film is an adventure-action thriller based on Ramasethu, full of wonders and mysteries. Abhishek Sharma, the director of Hindi films including 'Paramanu', has dressed Ram Sethu.Apart from Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrat Bharucha, the film also stars Telugu actor Satyadev Kancharana in the lead role. The film begins with an archeological team's 2007 mission to restore Buddha statues in Bamiyan (Afghanistan) that were destroyed by the Taliban. The film comes to the main theme after the part explains the adventure, devotion and atheism of the Indian scientist and protagonist Aryan Kulshrest. The story gets on track where the government is trying to demolish Ram Setu as part of the Setusamudram project. The Sethusamudram project is a project to build a ship canal in the strait between India and Sri Lanka to facilitate waterways around the Indian peninsula. A canal crossing Ram Setu would save shipping companies time and fuel to round Sri Lanka. When the public organizes against the demolition of Ram Setu, the government brings in Dr. Aryan. They prepared a report that Ram Setu was built by nature by sacrificing the atheist Aryan. With that, Aryan became a villain in front of the society. The film further shows the investigations he conducts to remove the stain on his name and present the evidence required for the report to the Supreme Court. Arya's journey to find out whether Ram Setu is natural or a part of the epic Ramayana is enthralling the audience. However, neither the screenplay nor the direction of the film had the strength according to the subject matter.

Akshay Kumar's four films in the lead such as Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan and Kathputli were missed by the audience this year. This time too, the actor arrived without thinking much about his luggage. Though the actor handles the parts that require drama well, the film lacks anything to satisfy the fans.Nicknamed as Khiladi, the actor's main strength is flexibility in action scenes and comedy timing.

While comedy had no place in this story, there was plenty of potential for action. But unfortunately, the director did not allow Khiladi to put his hand in the action! However, the actor shines this time without any action or punchy dialogue.Akshay Kumar was the same person on the silver screen despite changing roles in most of the films. But this time, unlike usual, Aryan, an archeologist, will be seen throughout the film. Changing the look of the actor also helped it to some extent. Satyadev's presence in the film is very important.Sanjeevini gave medicine to the script which was struggling to move forward and it was Sathyadev who saved it. The actor's entry came at a time when the slow pace of the film was seriously affecting those who came to watch the thrilling scenes. Later Satyadev became one of the main factors that make people enjoy the film. Actresses Jacqueline Fernandez and Jennifer Piccinato appear to have been included by name only.Despite being in the frame, they didn't get a chance to make their mark. Although he did not get much space, only Nusrat Bharucha managed to get some attention. Nasser, Pravesh Rana and others were not given the space they deserved in the script. But they used the moments they got well.

'Ram Sethu' has the story of a great adventure thriller. If it could have been presented on the big canvas with better settings, the film would have been the bridge to bring Akshay Kumar back to success. The script written by director Abhishek Sharma is not at all suitable for such a big film. Even important characters should not have gone into filming without being properly written. If each of the characters coming in could have an impact on the film, the audience would have been able to connect with the story more. Satyadev's is the only character with such power. That is how the film was held.Although the film demanded a creative script, the director could only deliver a tenth of it. The only improvement is the way the character 'AP' is used. Only because of this, the climax of the film was able to cross the bridge. The climax can be easily guessed as the audience has seen similar presentation and twists before. The film has a slow first half and a fast paced second half. It would have been a bit better if the gunshots at the beginning had been reserved for the climax. Because the film ends with long dialogues instead of action. It doesn't catch on because the conversations aren't strong enough. Although the CGI-VFX are all stoned at many places, the Ram Sethu scenes and the deep sea scenes are good. The background music at the beginning reminded me of Hollywood movies and didn't sound interesting. Apart from that, the background music in the second half and the song Jai Sri Ram is outstanding. Aseem Mishra's cinematography is also impeccable. Ram Sethu alone is enough to enjoy this movie. But leaving aside the audience's feelings towards Ramasethu, the film, which has little to contribute, will never fully satisfy the theatergoers.
