Oriol Paulo is a Spanish artist who has given a handful of excellent thriller films. His films are well-known to international thriller fans, although his name may not be immediately recognized. Films such as 'The Body' (2012), 'The Invisible Guest' (2016) and 'Mirage', written and directed by Oriol Paolo, have also been remade into Indian languages. The Body was remade in Hindi with the same name by Jeethu Joseph. The Invisible Guest has been released in Hindi as 'Badla' and Miraash as 'Dobara'. Taapsee Pannu was the heroine in both the films. It wasn't just a coincidence.

It must be understood that Oriol Paolo's work has influenced the actress a lot, otherwise the Bollywood film 'Blur' would not have happened. 2010's 'Julia's Eyes' (in Spanish:Los Ojos de Julia) is a remake of Blur. After 'Dobara', the film, in which Taapsee became the heroine, was released directly through Zee5. The actress has also stepped into film production with the horror-psychological thriller 'Blurry'. Directed by Ajay Bahl, the film also stars Gulshan Devaiah and Kritika Desai in lead roles alongside Taapsee.People with very strong interpersonal relationships can understand each other without speaking. In those born as twins, the bond is a little stronger. There is an argument that twins can sense their sibling's mood and pain even when they are far apart. Although it has not been scientifically proven yet, many people have claimed to have experienced it.The blur starts with the heroine crying out that her twin sister has met with an accident.

Gayatri was staying with her husband in Delhi and sister Gautami in Nainital. Gautami lived away from the hustle and bustle as he lost his sight completely over time. Gayatri goes to Nainital in search of her sister when she is unable to reach her on the phone. That's when Gautami is found to have committed suicide. Gayathri firmly believed that her sister's suicide was not, but the police concluded otherwise. While setting out to find out the cause of Gautami's death, Gayathri also suffers from vision impairment and has to face various challenges. The mystery of the incident increases again when another important character also dies. Will Gayathri be able to find the truth or will her sister's fate befall her?

The script of the film is organized in such a way that the excitement increases moment by moment. There are unexpected twists and turns in the story before and after the mystery is revealed. These are the reasons that make you watch the film. But credit goes to the original script writers. The script was copied from Julia's IC without much change. Although it is 10 minutes longer, it is not particularly good. While I am glad that Bollywood's masalakoots are not mixed together, the screenplay was made without properly connecting the characters to the audience. When Mirage was remade as 'Dobara', it stood out for its quality of making. But 'Blur' lags behind in production quality as well. Despite being a remake of a film that was released 12 years ago, none of the segments seemed to improve. The beautiful scenes of Uttarakhand filled the background and only the language gave the feeling of watching a Bollywood film. While those who have already seen the Spanish film might not be able to enjoy 'Blur', the (original) screenplay might make new audiences intrigued.

Taapsee Pannu, who is progressing by choosing different scripts and strong roles, is facing criticism for the same looks. It is a stark fact that in most of the films the actress' expressions, looks, costumes, body language and dialogue style are all the same. But Taapsee manages to bring the characters she takes on to herself. Here also such routines have not gone astray. We can see the same star we are familiar with in Blur. However, Taapsee has scored by accurately capturing the scenes where the character loses his sight. Blur will never disappoint those who expect something like the actress' thriller films like Badla and Dobara. Gulshan Devaiah also gave a good performance. Those who came in the role of Deepak and the police officer have done their job beautifully. But no matter what, important characters become weak in Blur, just like what happened when Christopher in 'Rakshasani' came to Hindi.

The heroine does not have eyes for crucial parts after the half. In those cases, whatever characters appear in the scene, none of their faces are shown. Some such features make the film fresh. But trying to show scenes only through lightning in the climax fell flat. Humility is the application of light that feels artificial. The film, which also moves on the horror track, has a lot of jump scares, but it doesn't stand out.

An example of this is that in the beginning, Taapsee is shocked when Gulshan Devaiya calls her from behind, but the audience is not shocked.Maybe it's due to the technical issues of enjoying it on a small screen. The main drawback felt was that the background score did not do justice to the character of the film. Had it been stronger the level of enjoyment would have increased tenfold.
Ajay Bahlin's direction is flawless if you don't think that it is a remake of the film that was released 12 years ago.Being an OTT release, Blur offers a lossless viewing experience, and thriller lovers can definitely watch it.
