Hi again. Welcome to my daily blogs. I hope you all are in good health and are having a blast of a day.

Today we will be looking at yet another architectural marvel. We will be discussing about the Louvre Museum. The Louvre Museum is one of the world's most visited museum of all time and a historic monument of Paris, france. It holds a lot of known and fabular pieces of arts, which also includes the very famous, Mona Lisa. The art galleries of Paris contains the finest collections of frames anyone would ever witness.

The Louvre is the book in which we learn to read.

                            ~ Paul Cezanne.

Louvre Museum was built in 1793, about 228 years ago. It was built as an Art Museum and Historic Site. It is ranked as the most visited nationally and in 2020 it was ranked as the most visited globally.  Initially, when it opened back in 1793 it had almost 540 exhibitions of paintings, most of them were royal and sophisticated church property.

Because of some reasons regarding its structures, this museum was closed in 1796 till 1801. The Musee du Louvre has more than 380,000 object and has 35 000 works of art.  Since 1993, the museum opened its main entrance from the underground space under the Louvre Pyramid. Another entrance at the Porte Des Lions, at the west end of the Denon wing made in 1999 but is not always open to enter. The use of cameras and videography is allowed in the museum, except the flash photography is not permitted.

The architects of this great masterpiece are Pierre Lescot, Loius le Vau, Claude Perrault.

It holds a lot of great artworks like

  • Mona Lisa, by Leonardo da vinci
  • Venus de Milo, by Alexandros
  • Winged Victory of Samothrace.
  • Liberty Leading the People, Eugene Delacroix
  • The Raft of the Medusa, by Theodore Gericault.

In 2014, French decided to make a satellite museum on an abandoned coal pit in the mining town of Lens to increase the total visits of museums and to improve the industrial economy. Japanese architects SANAA were chosen responsible for designing the Lens project in 2005. It finally opened in 2012.

So that was all for this blog, guys. I hope you have enjoyed knowing about this.
