Hercules is one of the most popular names of Greek mythology. His birth and even his whole life was filled with tragic. Hercules was the son of Zeus and a mortal woman Alcmene, while being married to the goddess Hera. And this created a lot of angers in the eyes of Hera for Hercules. When hercules was married to the mortal Megara and had many children, so Hera sent madness to his mind and made him kill his wife and children. When he came to his senses, turned to Apollo for redemption and Apollo told him to go to the king of Tiryns, Eurystheus. And the king gave Hercules 12 impossible labours to do as suggested by Hera.

  1. Slay the Nemean Lion.

As the lions skin was impenetrable, it would seem impossible to kill. But Hercules choked the lion to death and bring its skin to Eurystheus.

   2. Kill the Lernean Hydra

A venomous nine headed serpent with an immortal head that terrorized the town of Lernia, Hercules was ordered to kill the creature. With the help of his nephew, Lolaus he succeeded in this mission.

   3. Capturing the Golden Hind.

The Ceryneian deer with golden hair and bronze hooves was sacred to Artemis, goddess of hunting and animals and so hercules couldnt kill it. After hunting the deer for one year, hercules shot it. On his way home, he encountered artemis and explained the reason to take the Hind. Artemis accepted this in one condition to bring the hind back unharmed.

    4. Capturing of Erymanthian Boar.

Hercules visited Pholos, his Centaur friend, and drank wine which attracted other centaurs. Hercules killed the other centaurs with his arrows. When pholos came to know about this he dropped the poisoned arrow on his foot and killed himself. Hercules buried Pholos and started hunting the boar.

      5. Cleaning the stables of King Augeas.

King Augeas' stable with 1,000 cattles, hercules offered in return of tenth of her cattles. The king accepted as he believed this would be impossible to complete. Hercules made some way in the huge stable and managed to reroute two rivers to flush through the stable. When hercules told this to king Eurystheus, he rejected this as a labor as he used the rivers and took a tenth of the cattle as a return.

      6. Defeat the birds of the town of Stymphalos.

Some man eater birds gathered at the town of Stymphalos. Athena came to help Hercules by giving him a noise making clapper to scare the birds. As the birds flew in the sky, Hercules killed them with his bow and arrow, and the rest of them just flew away from the town.
