Pygmalion was a great sculptor with unique skills. His works were admired all over the globe. He travelled to the island of cyprus in order to have access to marble for his art. And with that he could make statues with such quality that they would appear to be made of ivory.

He was arrogantly demanding and was looking for a lovely woman to be his wife. But being a master of art made him see only faults in all women. A large block of marble was delivered to his shop. He saw the block of marble with all the neccessary qualities to be his ultimate masterpiece. So he decided to make a statue of a woman. But not like the other women he saw on the streets who were vulgar and full of flaws. So pygmalion decided to make his perfect woman, young and beautiful. But there was no one in that island of cyprus to be his ideal model. So all he was left with was his imagination, from which he got inspiration to create such a perfect woman.

And that is how he had built the most beautiful statue ever. Pygmalion named it Galatea. The statue was so perfect that pygmalion had to touch it just to make sure that it is not  a real woman. His love for the statue grew so much, that he even put it on his bed to sleep right next to him. The festival that celebrated the goddess of love, Aphrodite arrived. The artist realised how obsessed he was with galatea. He went to the temple to pay his respects to the goddess. He asked goddess aphrodite β€œ I know i try to avoid love at all costs but i never intended to offend you. Now, i am here in front of your temple overwhelmed by love and I ask you for a wife just like my galatea.” Aphrodite was touched by his sentiment.

Pygmalion returned home to see the statue. He put his hands on her cheek and kissed her on the lips. At that moment, he felt the warmth of galatea's lips. Her body was was not rigid like a stone any longer, and she gave in to the grip of his arms. Aphrodite had made the statue into a real woman. Under the blessing of the goddess aphrodite, Pygmalion and Galatea got married.

So that was all for this story. Hope you liked it
