Welcome or welcome back my dear bloggers to my daily blogs. I hope you all are in good health and are having a blast of a day.๐
Today we will be talking a bit about our "that" self that we try to suppress because we don't want others to see that and us to be identified by that part. As humans, it is only natural to have that dark side of you, everyone has that, some might be darker than others. But there is also a process that could help you to interact with your dark self. It is known as โ the shadow workโ.
The Shadow Work
The goal of this practice is to make those thoughts- which may include a post traumatic stress of an unfortunate event- a part of your self awareness so that you can then work on them accordingly. These thoughts of you โdarkโ side, may have been a result of painful experience, past memories of tragic events, etc.
As an example, if you are scolded of throwing a tantrum as a child, you may intend to store all that anger away and put a smile that is more socially accepted. You were already asked early to not be undesirably angry. This anger, jealousy, and all the other emotions are only natural in all humans, but not everyone is comfortable in expressing them.
At times of high anciety levels, anger, depression and some other problems in thing you value the most, your shadow self may show up. This side of you may not be compulsorily controlled by your natural personality and behavioral patterns. As in reality, any one can do this shadow work therapy, but a professional experienced therapist is highly recommended in order to help you get through the situation from which you want to escape.
The way to start doing shadow work is to first realize that you have a shadow self in the first place. A lot of us are scared to admit, or even realize, the fact that we have a shadow - meaning that we possess certain undesirable personality changes, we may have apologies that we need to make, rough truths to face about our own selvesand the people in our lives and many more. When you are able to recognize, observe, accept and work through the hard reality and facts about ourselves through an unbiased self analysis, you are doing a shadow work.
The conclusion of all this is that whatever your shadow look or feel like, it doesnt need a judgment from yourself, there are other people who will do that anyway, so what you should do is accept
