Do We Really Need To Take 10,000 Steps Daily For Our Health???

Welcome or welcome back my dear bloggers to my daily blogs. I hope that you are having a fun day.

Today's topic is all about maintaining or improving your health on a daily basis. So keeping your body active throughout the day is quite easy if you just walk around. Ideally, most of us reach 10,000 steps a day easily. And some of us realistically take fewer than even 5,000 steps a day. That could be unhealthy for your body if you are not actively doing something else than walking. To be honest, walking 10,000 steps might not be necessary to maintain optimum fitness.

Fitness tracking devices like fitbit, often suggest we take 10,000 steps a day. But this goal of steps which we believe would be based on science, in fact rests on coincidence and history rather than a firm research.

ORIGIN..

Thsi goal originally became popular in Japan in the 1960s. A clock maker mass produced a pedometer with a name that translates to  a walking man. It turned out to be a random coincidence. It is also translated as β€œ10,000 steps meter”, creating a walking aim that somehow became embedded in our consciousness and fitness trackers.

But is walking really beneficial for health??

Walking is a good way to improve yuor health. Just about 45 minutes every day can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce fat and boost your muscle power, endurance and stamina. So after all walking is good for your body.

Are there any disadvantages of walking???

It might not allow you to burn a lot of calories per hour as compared to strength training. As walking is not as intense as running or sprinting, its quite obvious that you might not be able to burn the amount of calories you may exepnd when running for the same amount of time.

Always remember…

It doesnt matter if you are a newbie or an experienced athlete, regular rest is important. Its necessary for your muscle repair, to prevent fatigue and overall better performance. To make the most out of your rest days, you can choose to do a bit of low impact workouts like yoga. These activities will help you stay active along with correct amount of your recovery.

So thats all about today's blog guys. I hope that you benefit from it.

Until next time..
