Welcome or welcome back my dear bloggers to my daily blogs. I hope you all are in good health and are having a blast of a day.
So, about a year ago, i read a book called Ikigai: The Japanese secret to a long and happy life, written by Francesc Miralles nad Hector Garcia. And this blog will be a bit about the concept of what ikigai actually means. If you are a fan of self development then you must have seen the very popular ikigai venn diagram.
It shows ikigai ( the purpose of life) should combine these four points:
He who has a why to live for, can live with any how.
But in reality, you cannot just leave your job as you do not love it. Just because you love playing tennis, it does not mean that you can be a professional tennis player.
Now, does that mean that we can never find our ikigai?
It turns out that the original japanese concept of the ikigai is not at all related to this venn diagram. The venn diagram is an astrological natal chart about finding the purpose of life designed by spanish astrologer Zuzunage Andres. Later business coach Marc Winn merged the japanese concept ‘ikigai’ with the diagram and came up with the ikigai Venn diagram.
Present is all that exists, and it is the only thing we can control.
So then what is the real ikigai?
Ikigai means the fulfillment in life, the reason for being. The five pillars of ikigai are:
Instead of waiting around for some magical overlap that promotes passion fallacy, you can have ikigai now. Our ikigai can come from all the aspects of life, aspirations, goals, dreams, community, gratitude for life, flow state. All or any of these can add up and make ikigai. Ikigai is about enjoying the little things in life, finding fulfillment and purpose in your day to day life, having emotional balance, relationships with the people around you.
So that was all for this blog. I hope you all really enjoyed it. And thank you for reading this far….
