This is the new trick in the book of scammers where they get new sim card against your registered mobile number to getting One time password (OTP) on there phone. 

Under this they call you and said your sim card is going to deactivate because you did not completed KYC. They said they will help you to complete your KYC. For this you have to send 20 digits sim card number to 121 and when request is accepted then press 1 to confirm your request. After the confirmation they received from you they will close the service of your existing number. And they will send you a email where your service provider attached QR code to swip your number. If any scammer get that code than easily they will issue a new sim card to access your bank account. Because at the present moment everyone knows that if they share any type of personal details to anyone then they have to face problem so they did not share OTP, this is the main reason behind sim swapping because after that they will receive OTP on there mobile number so they will easily steal money from your account.

So now we will tell you how you can protect yourself from sim swapping fraud.

Do not attention any Sim KYC request on calling. If any one says your sim will close do kyc now than disconnect the call and confirm it from customer care. If it's necessary than visit authorised service center to complete your KYC process.

Please be vigilant on sim deactivation as it may be an indication of sim swap or sim cloning. In case of any fraudulent activity happened than immediately inform your Bank and your sim provider company.

Do not respond to those person on calls who asks you to do block your sim card.

Do not share your mobile number on any social media platform. 

Install Anti-virus soft ware into your mobile number and upgrade it time time. It will help you to reduce the gravity of online attacks.

Operating System of your mobile and other applications should be upgraded time to time with latest version to avoid any attack by cyber criminals.

Bank account holders are advised to make payments using secured avenues such as Bank Website , ATM display etc while making any payment through the UPI. Do not make payment on any suspicious QR code which is circulated through various social media platforms like facebook, instagram, whatsapp etc…
