Popular varieties of mangoes 🥭 in India
1.Totapuri(tamil - Kili Mooku)
It is grown widely in south India 🇮🇳 and it has parrot 🦜like beak at tip of mangoes 🥭
2.Hapus or Alphonso
The mangoes are grown mainly in the western part of India like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri and Raigad districts. It is native to Maharashtra, this variety is now also grown in Gujarat and less parts of Karnataka. Alphonso is one of the most expensive and finest varieties of mangoes.
3.Sindhura( tamil - sindooram)
This variety is orgin to Salem district, TamilNadu. Sindhoora mango is very elongated in shape and has skin of red and green color. It is also known as Honey Mango because of its extreme sweetness and flavour.
4.Banginapalli
This 🥭 Mango variety found in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh
was first introduced by the Farmers of Banaganapalli.
5.Chausa
It is grown mainly in Pakistan and some parts of India; both countries export significant quantities of this type fruit.
6.Raspuri
The 'Raspuri' mango is an extremely popular variety of mango in South Indian state of Karnataka especially grown in and around Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru Raspuri are oval shape mango with excellent flavour and juicy in texture, considered as the Queen of Mangoes in India.
7.Neelam
The mango variety of Neelam is harvasting in almost every part of India. But the good variety of Neelam is grown in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It arrives very early in the mango season but the best type of this mango is available only from the second week June.
8.Malda or Langra
It is mainly grown in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The delicious variety of mango ‘Langra’ or ‘Malda’ is cultivated at Banaras town laced on the banks of River Ganga.
9.Kesar(Kuṅkumappū māmpaḻam)
It i cultivate in Kachchh, state in Gujarat, India. As the name suggests it has saffron fragrance.
10.Himsagar
Origin is West Bengal in India, Rajshahi in Bangladesh. It is available in 2nd week of May till June.
11. Rumani
It is cultivated in chittor district. They are also known as ice-cream mangoes or apple mangoes. Once you taste 😋this mango you cannot refuse again. Rumani mangoes has an excellent flavor, a skin is very thin and juicy in texture.
