An old man was very hungry. There was nothing in the house to eat. So he stole a rooster πŸ“ from a chicken farm.

The rooster πŸ“ was boiling in the pot when someone knocked at the door. The old man thought it was the owner of the bird and did not open theπŸšͺdoor. But the knocking continued and he could not ignore it. "Who are you and what do you want?" he asked the man standing at the door.

"I am God and I want something to eat."

"I am sorry but I cannot give you anything" said the old man.

"Why?" asked the Lord. "I smell food and so I know you can share something with me."

"That may be, but I would not like to feed someone who does not treat everyone alike. I notice that to some you give much; to others little."

β€œYes, that is true”, said the visitor, and departed.

Soon there came another knock at the πŸšͺdoor. A woman πŸ‘© stood there this time. And who are you?" asked the man.

" I am the Virgin Mary", said the woman, "and I would like something to eat."

" I am sorry, said the man "but I can not  share my food with you."

        "Why?" asked the Virgin.

Because said the man, "you are one of those who does not treat everyone alike. To some you give much; to others little." The Virgin had nothing to say and so she left.

And now the πŸ“rooster was cooked and the man was ready to sit down and eat. Another knock was heard. β€œI wonder who can be this time?” said the man. At the πŸšͺdoor stood Death, and said, "I smelled your rooster. I came here to share the food with you.

ANSWERS

1. The old man reacted positively to Death. He invited Death inside, saying, "Aren't you the one who treats everyone alike?

β€œ That is so”, said Death. β€œI have no favourites. The poor, the rich, the young, the old, the sick, all look alike to me.”

β€œThat is why you may come in and share my food” said the man. Death entered and the two had a grand feast.

2. While death has often been viewed as an enemy by those in good circumstances, it is a Great Equalizer".
