I'm back with another blog. This blog is all about ants. Yes the small super hero found every where. Especially in our sugar box .
So let's get into the blog. Here are some facts about ants. Let's start
- Ant is a eusocial insect of family formicidae and order hymenoptera.
- Ants always found as colonies. In every colony there will be a queen ant. This queen ant is the founder of the colony. They only can lay eggs.
- This queen ants have wings, they she'd it when they start a new nest.
- Except Antarctica, Arctic and some island there is at least one native species of ant found on every continent.
- Red fire ants have painful stings.
- There are different types of ants.
- Carpenter ants tend to attack when they are threatened. Crazy ants inflict a mild wound with little or no pain. Field ants bite only if Disturbed.
- Leafcutter ants have strong jaws. So they can bite and draw blood from our body.
- When ants dead of natural cause, they release a substance called oliec acid. So dead ants smell a little something like olive oil.
- Ants lifecycle include different stages. Like egg, larva, pupa and adult. It's lifecycle start with egg.
- Ant is more sociable. So they do not act individually. They always found in groups called colonies.
- Ants have two large compound eyes. They have night vision. So they can see things in the dark also. Why because their large eyes are filled with wide photoreceptors.
- Another interesting fact is that ants have two stomachs. One stomach is to hold and consume their own food. And the other stomach is to hold food they share with other ants.
- Ants never sleep. They get their sleep through power naps. An average worker ant takes approximately 250 naps each day. And these naps won't exceed one minute.
- Some times we can see the ants kissing each other. We may wonder what they are doing? Is they are kissing each other. And no. It's their mode of communication. They pass along chemical signals with their mates by sharing the saliva.
- Ants do not have tongue. But they have a finger like palps around the mouth, that have the ability to taste.
- The lifespan of ant is black garden ant - 4 years. Pharaoh ant - 4 to 12 months
- We can see the ants transport the dead ants.. and you know why . They transport the dead ants to protect themselves and their queen from contamination. Thank you 😊
