Hi fellow foodies! Welcome back to another food review. I had to order this one because I was experiencing a terrible menstrual phase. Ladies out there, I know you can relate. All of us girls who go through those 5 to 7 days of the month will find anything and everything related to pacifying your cravings interesting.
Anyway, back to topic. I wanted to order something filling for dinner, yet also something that would not make me feel hungry once I saw something sweet or junky in and around my surroundings!
And so I checked out various deals on Swiggy, but most of them were expensive, going beyond Rs.400 and Rs.500. I mean, our parents give us a limited amount, out of which a little is spent on you, while the remaining is spent for the betterment of your studies, stationery, books, etc. And sometimes, the money we spend for Dental Materials is crazy. But we need it, otherwise we will be kicked out of the lab. Sorry, dear reader, I didn't mean to diverge from the topic under discussion, but honestly since there was a small amount of money I was permitted to spend, I was searching for the best deal for almost half an hour.
And then finally, jackpot!
I found a place called House of the Dragon! The name itself sounds intriguing and kind of draws you to it. Anyway, I ordered chicken fried rice and a milk chocolate brownie, because no meal is ever complete without dessert.
It was delivered about 20 minutes after I had placed my order.
I was surprised that the packaging was small but the individual boxes were kinda big.
As you can see above in the picture, the chicken fried rice came in a pretty big box. And I had to appreciate the fact that the brownie was hot.
And I mean, when has chicken fried rice ever been dissappointing? This restaurant (I suppose) had definitely hired chefs to cook the food the right way and add the right amount of spice and the necessary ingredients. It was delish, honestly.
Giving you a bit of history here, fried rice was apparently first invented in China in the sixth century dating back to the Sui dynasty. This dish which includes jumbling veg and non-veg leftovers with rice has now become popular on the menu in almost every restaurant.
By the way, shout out to the person who first added soy sauce to enhance the taste of this meal.
Fun fact : Fried rice is best made with jasmine rice.
Coming to the brownie - the milk chocolate coating on it, along with the fact that it was nice and warm was hmmm (*hand movement* - the one we all do). It was just the sweet course that one would like to have after the main course.
History says that brownies first recorded were made in Chicago in the late 1880s for a ladies luncheon.
Fun fact : If you are human, you bound to make mistakes including the guy who got distracted and added chocolate to a cake mix. And I bet, we are all grateful for that accidental creation right?
And of course, as a future dentist, I take precautions to keep my oral cavity clean as it generally is better to rinse your mouth after every meal and brush twice a day.
Anyway, the fried rice was for Rs.199 and the brownie for Rs.159, I only had to pay Rs. 247 given the coupon that these delivery apps provide that helps you save money while also appeasing your satiety centre.
