Ponmudi is a small hill station in thiruvanathapuram district of kerala state in india. The name Ponmudi means GOLDEN CROWN. This is one of the favorite destination of every travelers all around the world.60 KM from trivandrum city to ponmudi peak. There is a total of 22 hair pins to reach the beautiful Ponmudi Peak. Ponmudi is the part of Peppara wildlife sanctuary. The height of Ponmudi  is 3002 feet(915m).Hundreds of different types of plants ,butterflies and animals are found in the deep forest of ponmudi.

 Bikers are always addicted to the  beauty of landscapes of ponmudi. Kallar welcomes you to ponmudi. The water in Kallar river is crystal clear and the shiny colored pebbles impress you in the starting itself. The 22 hair pins gives to the best driving experience along with natures The wind that blows through the forest cuddles us through out the journey to the peak. One side of the road have so many colorful trees extending their hands towards us to give  a warm hug. Other side which gives us the most wonderful view of the Mother Nature. Shady dense of the thick forest surrounding us mesmerize you. Whether you are a nature lover or just a tourist one thing is sure that before you return you will definitely fall in love with Ponmudi. All the way to the Ponmudi peak is full of hidden surprises if you are lucky you can spot various animals like wild squirrels jumping from branches to branches, tribe of monkeys , butterflies of various size and colors. There are few watch stations to enjoy the view points which is a visual treat. 

 The peak of Ponmudi will leave you breathless  where ever you stand you will be surrounded by the green lushes. The hills which is kissed by the clouds. The valleys formed by the hills. The green grass meadows extend everywhere. The thick wild trees with different colors sometimes dark green, sometimes light green, sometimes orange, sometimes yellow, sometimes brown makes us feel like the Almighty is the best artist ever. The climate of ponmudi is exceptional at times even before you notice mist will cover you. Best Time to visit ponmudi is from October to February .Trekking trails which are available to explore includes Varayadumoota ,Seethatheertham.From Kallar you can trek to Ponmudi which gives you more chance to see different flora and fauna .Bus service is available from trivandum city. Right now stay is only provided by KTDC.
