The city of lakes, Udaipur, does a magic spell on the visitors. You cannot get enough of this city! Starting from the City Palace to bewildering palette of cuisines, it is a roller coaster ride. When you visit Chittor, the first thing that would come to your mind is the history of Chittor. The fort is simply HUGE! You have to take your own vehicle since you cannot cover the whole fort on foot. The fort has witnessed many battles. It is surrounded by walls and temples. People still live inside the fort and that’s something very interesting. The fort has different mahals, underground passages to the water tanks and many temples. The water tanks still have water, which is why you can feel the cool breeze embracing you in Chittor. When you get to know the history behind Chittor, you would get goosebumps. Historical importance of the fort is Johar kund of Rani Padmini, the victory tower and Kirti Stambha.
Jodhpur, the blue city has a beautiful tinge of blue all over it. The city is famous for its blue houses which was done to create a soothing and a calming atmosphere. One of best maintained forts is Rajasthan is Mehrangarh Fort. It is now a museum displaying the weapons, treasure trove, royal palanquins and ancient paintings. The most interesting part in the fort is the traditional folk music you find at every step sung by the local singers. One will be touched when the melodious music will enter the ear. Once you reach the highest peak of the fort, you can witness the blue essence of Jodhpur.
Last but not the least, Jaisalmer, in the heart of the Thar desert, is also known as the Golden City. The city is famous for its sandstone architecture. When you come to the centre of the city, you would see the spectacular fort of Jaisalmer. Sonar Quilla or Jaisalmer fort is one of the living forts in Rajasthan. Behind the massive walls of the fort stands Maharaja‘a palace and intricately carved Jain temples. Once in Jaisalmer, do not forget to visit Patwon ki Haveli. It is a combination of five different havelis into one. Kuldhara Village, known as a haunted village is also one of the tourists’ attractions. The village is left abandoned from many decades. A group of 85 villages stayed in Kuldhara. One night all the villagers evacuated the village. Why and how the villagers left is not known, only assumptions and guesses are hinted. It is told that before leaving, the villagers had cursed that no life can exist there.
Last but not least, do not miss the desert safari! It’s a roller coaster ride in those Thar jeeps accompanied by a well trained driver.
