Hello everyone! In this blog is about fabrics..
Cotton:
Cotton is known as one of the oldest natural fibers. Cotton is a soft fabric that feels smooth against your skin. It is breathable and absorbs moisture easily. When cotton comes in contact with water, it wicks away the moisture from the body and keeps the wearer dry during warmer weather. In addition, cotton is hypoallergenic and does not cause allergic reactions. You need only one layer of clothing, the cotton dress, to protect yourself from harsh elements. The major disadvantage of wearing cotton is that it tends to shrink, especially if washed too often.
Silk:
Silk is produced from the cocoon of the silkworm. Silkworms spin their own unique thread using glands located near the head end of the worm. Silk is considered to be the strongest fiber naturally occurring in nature. Its natural lustre and fine quality makes it attractive material for making garments. Silk is warm and luxurious against the skin. Unlike synthetic materials, silk offers comfort and warmth even after repeated washing.
Polyester:
Polyester is manufactured by taking long chains of polyethylene terephthalate molecules and joining them together. This strong fiber is lightweight and provides excellent durability. Polyester is widely used in manufacturing clothes, carpets, and home furnishings. Its fast-drying characteristics make it ideal for winter wear. However, it may show signs of aging over time due to its inherent brittle nature.
Wool:
Wool is a protein containing fiber that is derived from sheep’s wool. It is generally resistant to fading and mildew. Because of its good insulating qualities, wool is commonly used to manufacture sweaters, jackets, and coats. It is comfortable and durable. Wool also retains its shape well, making it suitable for use in suits, skirts, and dresses. Due to its expensive nature, woolen products tend to be less affordable than synthetics.
Rayon:
Rayon is a manmade fiber that is spun from plant cellulose. Like cotton, rayon offers many advantages at a relatively low cost. It is highly elastic and softens with frequent washings. It also repels stains and bacteria and dries quickly. However, it is prone to yellowing and shrinking, and does not provide much insulation.
Tencel:
Tencel is a manmade fiber obtained from wood pulp and regenerated cellulose. Similar to rayon, tencel offers many attributes including stain resistance, quick drying, and high abrasion resistance. Tencel also resists wrinkles and maintains its shape well, however, it cannot stand exposure to direct sunlight.
