Biryani is an emotion for a lot of people here. Be it chicken biryani or mutton biryani. We all love briyani in common. Note: Don't ask where is the veg biryani. It's an insult to the biryani.

Now, let's look at the different types of biryani and their origin.

1)HYDERABADI BRIYANI

This is one of the famous briyani among the various states in India. As the name indicates, it came straight from the Telugu states i.e Andhra and Telangana. This biryani is unique in its flavour. Unlike other biryanis, it's very spicy. Here, the briyani is cooked in layers. The meat and gravy dominates this briyani.

2)Dindigul Biryani

Dindigul briyani is prepared using seeraga samba rice. This biryani is brown in colour. This biryani is invented in Tamil Nadu. The famous multi chain restaurant Dindigul Thalapakatti Restaurant uses this recipe for their biryani. This biryani is rich in aroma because of the flavour of meat and ghee. If you ever visit Dindigul, don't miss out to check this briyani. You'll love it.

3)Kolkata Biryani

As the name indicates, this biryani is from Kolkata. They use potato and boiled egg along with the meat to make this biryani. The potato absorbs the flavour of the meat. The rice is layered with the meat and potato gravy and slow cooked. This biryani is not only famous in Kolkata but also in other parts of north india.

4) Lucknow Biryani

Lucknow Biryani is also known as awadh biryani because of its birthplace Awadh, Now Uttar pradesh. This biryani is very mild in spice. The cooking style, the style and flavour makes lucknow Biryani unique. It is cooked inside a dugged bit that gives so much flavour and aroma. So, those who like milder biryani may like this biryani.

5)Mughlai Biryani

Many of you might known that Mughals are the one who introduced biryani to India. Yes, you heard it right. During war times, Queen Mumtaz who is the beloved wife of Mughal king Shahjahan visited the barracks and found out that their soldiers are looking weak and malnourished. So, she ordered her top chefs to cook something for her soldiers which should contain all kinds of essential nutrients. And also she insisted that it should be a one pot dish which contains meat, rice, and all vegetables. So, the chef started making something like that and now we are enjoying that dish called biryani. This biryani can be found in the Delhi, haryana region. It's also rich in spice.

6)Malabar Biryani

It is originated from Kerala. It's very mild in spice. This biryani is also called as thalassery biryani. Unlike other biryanis, they provide papadam and pickle as a side dish for this biryani. And trust me it's a super combination. Not all of them will love this kind of biryani, but it's definitely delicious in it's own way.
