Dhoni's sister is Jayanti Gupta (Bhumika Chawla), and his father is Pan Singh (Anupam Kher). When Dhoni was younger, he was the team's goalkeeper in school. Dhoni's school coach, Baneerji (Rajesh Sharma), observes him during goalkeeping drills. For his school's cricket squad, he needs a wicketkeeper.

Pan Singh is the PSU Meco Limited's water manager for the residential colony. He is therefore also responsible for watering the nearby cricket stadium. He wants Dhoni to pursue his education and career goals. However, he doesn't allow MS to resume its athletics. Banerjee gets Dhoni to take up cricket and instructs him to focus on maintaining wickets (Dhoni's original goal was to be a batsman). Nevertheless, Dhoni uses every spare time to snatch batting practise from his coach. Before long, his bat will be the difference between winning and losing games for his school. Soon after, Dhoni begs Banerjee to allow him to bat first for his team, something that Banerjee grudgingly agrees to. DHoni shows off his electrifying batting to draw large spectators to the field.

Dhoni completes his exams in class XII in 2.5 hours so he can arrive at the venue in time for the corporate cricket competition. However, Dhoni joins the East Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy. Dhoni's companion believes that Dowal is undermining Dhoni's chances by not providing the letter to him and subsequently by not assisting Dhoni in arriving in Calcutta in time for the team report. Dhoni's pals come up with enough cash to rent a car and drive Dhoni to Calcutta for the night, but they are thirty minutes late for the flight.
However, AK After learning about Dhoni's tragedy, Ganguly, the chairman of Railways East Zone, offers him a position with Indian Railways at a salary of Rs 5000 per month, which helps him get into the Railways team. Ganguly accepts Dhoni's trial on his own, and Dhoni hits him hard. Ganguly verifies Dhoni's position. Dhoni had to live in his first apartment with three other railway workers.
