• Why is physical education important ?

• Is it necessary to eliminate it?

• Importance of physical education for students…….

Physical Education is an education which brings improvement in human performance with the help of physical activities. Physical activities range from simple walking to jogging, running, sprinting, hopping, jumping, climbing, throwing, pushing, pulling, kicking, etc.

Physical Education (PE) develops students' competence and confidence to take part in a range of physical activities that become a central part of their lives, both in and out of school. A high-quality PE curriculum enables all students to enjoy and succeed in many kinds of physical activity.

Today I will be dealing with role of physical education in schools.

Physical education is being eliminated in schools across the nation. People don't understand the importance of physical education even in this era. It is being removed from the curriculum just because some people think it's a waste of time , some don't have the resources to provide physical education and some just don't care about the fact .

Physical education has many benefits for the students. It can now have benefits for the students now and also in  future. It is not at all a waste of time. It not only helps the students  grow physically but also mentally , socially , academically and also giving them a greater appreciation for diversity.

Benefits of Physical activity

  • Improve your memory and brain function
  • Protect against many chronic diseases
  • Aid in weight management
  • Lower blood pressure and aid in heart health
  • Improve your quality of sleep
  • Reduce feelings of anxiety and depression
  • Improve joint pain and stiffness

There are many disadvantages too when physical education is eliminated.

Listed below are the few disadvantages:

• OBESITY

• LETHARGY

• LESS ACTIVITY CAN ALSO LEAD TO HEALTH PROBLEMS LIKE DIABETES , CHOLESTEROL AND HYPERTENSION.

Why is physical education being removed from many schools???

  • Due to lack of funding and academics.

States are becoming less strict in implementing the requirements for physical education classes.

According to the American Heart Association , students should have 150 minutes of physical activity a week , but only 35 per cent of states comply with this recommendation.

These students are being deprived of physical activity and this can negatively affect them.

These numbers are shocking because there are rules in place to keep students active for a reason  and some states are not following them.
