A Short Story By Anita Choudhry :-One Question

Marti ... a question that I do not have the answer to date.  Today, during the preparation of Holi, a picture of Bharti came into my hands, and I do not know how many memories of her were refreshed in my mind.  Bharti was a ten and twelve-year-old innocent girl, who used to come often to work with her aunt.  Bharti's aunt used to do laundry in many houses in our street.

When I saw Bharti for the first time, I asked her aunt- 'Who is this girl?  ' She said, 'Sister is my niece.  Came from the village  ' I asked- 'Why do you bring such a small girl with you for work?  ' So he said, 'Hey didi will learn some work, not her father, even her mother left her and ran away.  Now all the responsibility has fallen on me.  One day I brought him to my house.

My son was very happy to play with him.  She used to talk to me a lot.  He loved to read.  I told her, 'Bharti, I will get you admitted to the school.  I will pay your fees and will also help you with your studies.  ' She was delighted.  The next day she said 'Bhabhi aunty has refused to study.  ' Her aunt said, 'Sister, I can not take care of my children properly, and now it has come more.  I want to fulfill my responsibility by marrying her as soon as possible.  ' I scolded her loudly, 'Shame you will marry such a small girl.

I tried a lot to convince him but he did not listen to me.  He even refused India to come to my house.  Then one day Bharti came and said, 'Sister-in-law, I am going.  I am going to get married.  You give me a picture of yourself, I will miss you very much.  ' I left with photos and gifts.  Whenever her aunt saw me, I would ask her about Bharti's condition.

She used to tell, 'Sister now she is very happy, she has got a very good husband.  ' I said that whenever Bharati comes here, he must definitely bring her to meet me.  Then maybe his aunt got a job somewhere else.  Recently, she bumped into me in the market.  As a habit, I again inquired about Bharti's well-being.

He replied in a very simple way, 'It has been four months since Didi dies.  ' I was shocked to hear this.  I asked myself, 'How did this all happen?  ' She said, 'Hey sister, she was about to become a mother.  His child died in the stomach.  By the time the doctor was taken, the poison had spread in the body.  Then could not save him.  ''I didn't know what to say to him.  Taking care of myself, I came home and sat and thought.  Married child at such a young age!

All this is the reason for his death or his mother who left him.  Was.  Or his aunt who put him to death in the process of fulfilling the responsibility or me who could not become a strong voice for him.  Don't know who?  Bharti This was a question for me that I do not have an answer to till today.
