Trek To Valley Of Flowers (Uttarakhand)

Valley of flowers national park in Uttarakhand will sweep you off your feet if you're into flora and funa. Dare to trek up to “Valley of flowers”. If not then scroll down.

The valley of flowers was declared as the National Park of India in 1981 and it is known as UNESCO world heritage site.  The valley of flowers is home to more than 500 species of flowers and plants (many of the flowers and plants are found in the valley itself only).  The most famous Brahmakamal, the blue poppy and the cobra lily. 

This place is blessed with an number of waterfalls, streams, lush green  meadows which can be seen during the trek to valley of flowers. The valley changes its colour every after 15 days, Throughout the season.

  • Best time to Visit the valley of flowers

July and August are the most preferred months for Valley of Flowers Trek as one can see maximum number of flowers during these months.

  • Things to keep in Mind when you are on Trek

Valley of flowers remains open from the month of June till the October. Entry to valley of flowers opens at 7 am every day and the last entry in allowed till afternoon 2 pm. You can carry dry snacks and water bottle with you. 

When you go to trek you bag should include medicine for headache, body pain, nausea, stomach pain and Diamox in your medical kit.

  • Brief Itinerary About Trek

Day 1 - Rishikesh to Joshimath

253 kms- 10 hours of Drive 

Day 2 - Joshimath- Pulna drive- Ghangaria trek

22 kms -8 hours of drive and 2 hours of trek

Day 3 - Ghangaria-Valley of flowers and back

8 kms -8 hours of trek

Day 4 -Ghangaria - Hemkund sahib and back

16 kms -5 hours of trek 

Day 6 -Joshimath -Rishikesh

253 kms -10 hours of drive
