The year started as normal as previous years of the 20th century. Then Every Indian were praying to god for a better future along the year, they were wishing better lifestyle, healthy and a good financial condition for themselves and their family. There was going war between India and Pakistan for the independence of Bangladesh and the fight against China was just become end but the political, strategical along with a cold was still running with China. So, Indians were living in an environment of war and the air was fulfilled by the sounds of guns, cannons, fighter planes,s, etc. That was a dangerous condition but our country was not been stopped, it was running on its own frequency.

In the time of the British emperor, the game named “CRICKET” was established on the land of India and on the mind of Indians. Since 1888 Indians started to play cricket with the father of cricket and football in India NAGENDRA PRASAD SARBADHIKARI. From the 2nd decade of the 20th century, India (actually it was named as BRITISH INDIA before 1947) started to play international cricket and their first match was started with Australia at MCG. From then India launched itself in the battleground of world cricket history and it is still growing with new records, new formats, new champions, new tournaments as well as new cricketers.

Before 1971, India was been debuted independently in a test match in 1951 against West Indies. Before 1971, India had some best captains like Vijay Hazare(in his captaincy India won their first-ever test match in history against England in 1951), Nouri Contractor, Pankaj Roy, Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Dilip Sardesai, Ajit Wadekar (captained in 1971). In 1971, Indian cricket had West Indies tour and England tour for a 4 match test series each, and India won their first-ever test series win in the home of both England and West Indies. Ajit Wadekar was the captain during those both tour. Sunil Gavaskar, the father of modern Indian cricket, the ‘Little Master’ made his international debut in test at the 2nd test match of the series against west indies at Queen’s park oval, port of Spain, and after he established his emperor overall cricket countries for 17 years. India won the test series at 1-0 against both West Indies and England.

So, the year 1971 is as normal as the other calendar year of the 20th century, but it was a special year from the direction of Indian cricket history, which had changed the body structure, mentality, definition, aggression, sportsman spirit, image, history of Indian cricket and then the future of Indian cricket was also being started to established and Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman to today’s Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, etc. are the fruits of that trees which was planted in 1971.

So, 1971 may be renamed as “Revolutionary Year of Indian Cricket History”
