The Shiva Trilogy is a three books' series written by Amish Tripathi. The series consists of the books ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ , ‘The Secrets of the Nagas’ , ‘The Oath of the Vayuputras’. The whole idea of personifying a Hindu od Shiva, who is widely loved all over the world is what intrigued me the most. But by the end of the series I am sure every reader has fallen in love with the Mahadev. The author has made sure to develop characters that are appealing and that connects to various group of readers and has addressed sensitive societal issues without going off-track from the main story-line. I have to mention that the war scenes depicted are very detailed and it gets the reader involved into the story. The books also describes the philosophies of life very elegantly and few lines will surely be etched into your mind for a long time. The geography aspects and the accuracy of these aspects shows the quality of research that has gone into making which has made this series very special.

The first book describes the rich Indian culture and the heritage that prevailed in the Indus Valley Civilization. The way the Architectures, township and the war tactics have been described, it will really take you to that era. Along with all the positive aspects of the ancient cultures there are also descriptions of unfair societal practices that were followed during the times which are relevant to some extent even during the current days.

The second book is really gripping with a lot of unknowns and suspense. The plot unfolds in an interesting way which keeps you going though the story progresses slowly. The Nagas being treated differently in the society is very relatable even today. The way Shiva is described as one of us, the way he deals with the everyday life like a common man really brings the reader closer to the characters.

The third book will make you realize that you have gotten attached to the main characters more than you knew. It will invoke a lot of emotions in you and also shows the immense amount love Shiva has towards Sati. The book ends with a predictable climax and positive note.

In conclusion, the series is thought provoking and gives a very different angle of Shiva. It regenerates your interest in Indian mythological fiction and leaves you craving for more of it, and also Lord Shiva will definitely become your best friend!
