I am sure most of you reading this blog are either currently in school/college or have completed school/college. Therefore, I guess you will agree that school life is one of the major and most memorable parts of our life.
Start from playing games on a school bus to sharing tiffins during breaks and not forgetting to get punished outside the class. Or from bunking classes in college to having unlimited fun with college mates and falling in love.
There are so many uncountable numbers of things which we lived or were living until the pandemic. Keeping the fun part aside now how many things have we learnt in school that are coming in help in real life?
If you ask me, almost to none!
Here is the list of things that I feel the school should have taught us:
THE ABILITY TO ACCEPT A FAILURE:
The agony of a series of unsuccessful job interviews was not taught in school or your first heartbreak from love.
Failure is one of those experiences that you must have to understand. The school does not prepare you for big life failure, even if you obtain a terrible mark on an exam or assignment. It's a fact of life that can't be avoided.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE IN THE REAL WORLD:
One of the most prevalent accusations levelled against higher education is that it does not adequately prepare students for the rigours of the "real world." One of the most common issues for new graduates is adjusting to life outside of the dorm.
FINANCE:
In most cases, schools/colleges do not educate how to manage one's finances or the intricacies that come with all of these topics. Finances, on the other hand, are quite important. To stay afloat, save money, and invest, we need to know what to do and what not to do.
GOAL SETTING & TIME MANAGEMENT:
Schools set goals for their students, which may leave some graduates feeling lost. We need to develop the ability to set our own goals. Something that contributes significantly to our independence's growth. Time management is another skill that many schools fail to teach us.
WAYS TO BE AROUND PEOPLE YOU LIKE LESS:
In high school classes and college dorms, it's relatively easy to avoid people you don't like being around. Simply put, you don't communicate with them. Things aren't quite so straightforward in the real world. There will be bosses, coworkers, and even neighbours with whom you will not get along. Although being best buddies isn't required, you must swallow your pride and bite your tongue. Oh, and keep your complaints about that "special someone" to a minimum. You don't have to get into a "He said, she said" squabble at work.
The list of things not taught in schools/colleges go on…
Even though we aren't taught these but we still learn them eventually with life, don't we?
