If you are a Bengali and have lived most of your life in Kolkata then you must have heard about ‘Das Cabin’ at least once in your life.
And if you haven't, no worries! Keep reading to know some mouth-watering facts about this ancestral restaurant Das Cabin, which has been established in the 80s.
The restaurant Das Cabin is situated in the heart of Kolkata, in Gariahat. A place that never stops, be it middle in the afternoon or late at night you will always find horns honking and people rushing. And ‘Das Cabin’ happens to be the centre of attraction for everyone who is passing Gariahat. Starting from office goers to shopping lovers everyone makes sure to come by this restaurant at least once in their life.
You will find every kind of food here at the cheapest amount. Even today when prices are hiking everywhere, you can still have a stomach-filling meal within Rs 150 here.
If we talk about the several dishes that's Cabin’ has on its menu then it is famous for 'Moglai Porota'. Its deep-fried, crispy edges are worth your taste buds. When the plate is served in front of you, you will find the huge Moglai Porotha covering the entire plate, including the aloo, salad and sauce you get with it. Overall a perfect combination of food, but if you are someone who does not like too much oily food or is trying to avoid one then this dish may not be suitable for you. But trying out mouth-watering, oily food once in a while is never harmful, is it? You will get every type of Moglai here starting from Rs 65. If you ever visit ‘Das Cabin’ do try this famous dish for once!
Along with this ‘Porotha- Mansho’ is another famous item you will find here. Each piece of paratha is Rs 10 and let me tell you each paratha is huge compared to what other places serve you. So if you are going to the restaurant for a meal then 2-3 pieces of paratha would be more than enough for one person to fill their stomach. And with that comes ‘Mansho’ (chicken/mutton) anyone if your choice Rs 90 per plate with four pieces of chicken/mutton in it. Overall, it is a worthwhile food to spend on.
And at the end of the dish don't forget to try the delicious ‘Kulfi’ (Rs 50). If you don't order a kulfi at the end then your meal is incomplete.
Some of the other dishes which this restaurant has on its menu list are:
Muglai Porotha
Porotha Manso
Fish-fry
Kulfi and much more daily food at a very pocket-friendly budget.
‘Das Cabin’ has maintained its aesthetics and quality till this day, reminding us of the ambience of the old Kolkata.
