Once a farmer climbed up a tree to cut some wood for his stove. His donkey standing below the tree closed its eyes and went to sleep.Just then a stranger riding a horse came that way ."Hey man!" called out the stranger “when you have sawed through that branch on which you're sitting both you and the branch will fall to the ground ”.listening this farmer says “you think you're very smart, don't you? ”getting very angry.Then stranger replied “you don't have to be very smart to know that”.then farmer said “you don't know anything about cutting wood go away form here.!”…
The stranger rode away and farmer continued sawing.Suddenly he and the branch he was sitting fell to the ground .The farmer picked himself up slowly and thought “What a wise man !!. He knew that I would fall even before it happened . He must be able to tell the future . I will go ask him to tell me more about my future” .The farmer chased stranger and caught up with him . “Hello!! cried the farmer,” as you said I fell from the tree . You know about future and your prediction happened exactly , please !!say more about my future “. By listening this, the stranger laughed and said “ what me? tell your future?? okay say what do you want to know ?”then farmer asked “when will I die” then the stranger thought for a moment and said “you will die when your donkey has sneezed three times” and he rode away before the farmer ask another question then this farmer thinks “my donkey never sneezes! so i shall never die ”and he started off home very happily .
Now donkey's are very peculiar . As the farmer rode along humming a tune ,suddenly donkey open its mouth and sneezed - AATCHOUM ! Then the farmer was horrified😨 . All his happiness changed into fear. jumping down from the donkey's back he pressed his hands against the donkey's nose to stop any more sneezes . After sometime farmer felt it was safe enough and decided to start his journey again ,later they came to a freshly ploughed field, the farmer stopped here for rest then as he stopped, suddenly without warning the donkey sneezes for the second time - AATCHOUM !!
The farmer snatched his turban and held it tightly against the donkey's nose and he cried “ two sneezes already!!I am only one sneeze away from death ”and he also says himself that “the stranger not only knew how to tell the future but he is also making my donkey sneeze! ” . As the farmer holding turban very tightly against donkey's nose, it could not breathe, so it jumped and kicked him …
The farmer thought however “I should stop donkey from sneezing again” then he had got an idea he took 2 stones and placed them in donkey's nostrils, like corks in a bottle ."Now let him try to sneeze" he thought . Now again the donkey sneezes - AATCHOUM !!the stones flew out and hit the farmer in the face . “Oh!oh!! I am dead ”he cried and he lay down on the road for how can a dead man stand up ?????
What I learnt from this story? 1.We should not try to know about our future because if we know our future we can't live our present happily
2.Superstitious thoughts make man fool.
