Edappadi Government's unnecessary nails
Both AIADMK and DMK are not immune to naming political leaders for public places, projects and institutions. Let's see what are the unnecessary nails of Edappadi government.
An acclaimed artist
While both parties are notoriously bad at putting political leaders on projects, the artist must be commended for one thing.
One of the many things that the current generation does not know is that the names of transport companies and districts used to be named after political leaders.
Even 'J' went a step further and put his name on projects when he was in power.
In it came 'JJ Transport Corporation'.
Names of Transport Corporations, Districts
After the artist came to power, the names of all the transport corporations were changed from the names of the chiefs to the names of their respective towns.
In Chennai, it was 'Pallavan', which was beautifully changed to 'City Bus'. Image Credit
Districts which were named after various chiefs were also changed after their respective towns. For example our district which used to be 'Periyar' district has become 'Erodu' district.
The name 'Madras' was changed to 'Chennai' and it was well received by the public.
Excellent initiative
One of the greatest acts of the artist government, which is still admired by many today, was the renaming of transport corporations and districts.
But it happened later when the artist himself took up the 'Artist Insurance Scheme'.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami
Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has started the culture of naming political leaders.
He changed the name 'J' to Koyambedu Bus Station which was CMBT.
During the parliamentary elections, he changed the name of the century-old 'Chennai Central' to MGR's name and stirred up controversy.
MRT Stations Name Change
Now unrelated, Koyambedu, Central and Alandur MRT stations are named after J, MGR and Anna.
I don't understand the need for this now.
As soon as this announcement came, they started asking people as if they expected to name their party leader.
Does all this matter when people have so much work to do in the poor condition of the state?
Idol problems
As political parties across the state have statues, someone desecrates the statue of a leader he doesn't like.
This causes friction.
Let those who put idols keep them in their party offices, why not create riots and trouble people by keeping them in public places.
Thanks for reading.
