Chennai Outer Ring Road
Chennai Outer Ring Road
In 2010, the then Deputy Chief Minister Stalin started Chennai Outer Ring Road and in 2014 under the 'J' regime, the first phase was completed up to Nemilicherry.
In 2021, the second phase of the work was completed up to Meenjoor by Edappadi Palanichami and opened for use.
Although the first phase of the Outer Ring Road was in use in 2014, it is now heavily used by people, especially heavy vehicles.
Chennai Outer Ring Road
Coming from Tambaram, take a right turn at the Vandalur flyover to reach the Outer Ring Road.
If coming via Guduvancheri, take left on Outer Ring Road bridge which starts near Vandalur Zoo.
It has been developed as a six-lane road.
A gap of approximately 60 feet is left between the left and right roads (Median).
Some places have trees, some have plants, some have nothing.
Growing trees in vacant lots is particularly beneficial in Miyawaki style.
No one can enter the middle of the road like entering in the middle of the GST road, it is safe.
A bridge has been constructed between the villages on the road. Therefore, vehicles can only cross under the bridge.
In short, you can go without stopping anywhere like a six-lane road on the Chithod (Erodu) –> Coimbatore route.
Conveniently designed for heavy vehicles and four-wheelers.
Even though there is a service lane on both sides, some two-wheelers on the main road approach the opposite side.
The reason for making it an eight-lane road is that there are too many vehicles at present. Will increase in future.
Tollbooth CCTV
Although the toll plaza has been set up, it is yet to be operational (June 2021), awaiting the approval of the Tamil Nadu government. The road is fully lit, so traveling at night will not be a problem.
Some places have CCTV on the road.
There are tea shops and bakeries in the middle of the road. The gas station is missing something, maybe overlooked.
Due to continuous vehicular traffic, the soil accumulated on the sides is cleaned by a cleaning vehicle.
The distance from Vandalur to Meenjoor is approximately 63 km.
You can split between places like Kunradur, Panimalar College, Madurawayal, Pattabram, Avadi.
The outer ring road is ideal for those going to Kunradur via Vandalur.
Kunradathur Murugan Temple is located near Outer Ring Road.
Those going to Bangalore can split near Madurawayal. This way you can avoid the complete city traffic jam.
The Outer Ring Road has been constructed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation.
I hope the above information will give you an understanding of the Chennai Outer Ring Road.
