23 April 2023. One day, the Eden Gardens were painted yellow. Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs thanks to half-centuries from Super Kings Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube.
When the Super Kings came to bat, they played brilliantly against the willow, amassing a massive 235/4 in their 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad (35 off 20) and Devon Conway, the opening pair, set the tone for the side with a brilliant partnership of 73 runs in just 7.3 overs.
After that, Ajinkya Rahane entered and he and Conway shared a 36-run partnership. With an incredible 40-ball 56, left-hander Conway achieved his fourth half-century in a row in the IPL 2023.
Then, in the 14th over of the innings, Rahane hit Umesh Yadav for 22 runs. Rahane casually stroked the opening ball over fine leg for a six. Rahane played a scoop shot with the second ball, and it went past short fine leg for another six.
Dube was as impressive, taking on the spinners in the middle overs and scoring a rapid fifty off just 21 balls. Rahane was the star of the show as the Super Kings amassed a huge total thanks to his incredible 71* off 29 deliveries.
The Knight Riders lost both of their opening games after scoring just one run while chasing a huge 236.
Tushar Deshpande fired N Jagadeesan, while Akash Singh cleaned up Narine. For the third wicket, Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana put on a 45-run partnership. After leaving in rapid succession, Venkatesh and Rana left KKR reeling at 70/4.
After that, Jason Roy and Rinku Singh put up a 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket. While Rinku scored 53* off 33 deliveries, Roy top scored with a 26-ball 61. Kolkata were held to 186/8 in their 20 overs.
22 April 2023. Conway and Jadeja's Anbuden standout helped the Super Kings defeat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets with eight balls remaining. Fans will remember it for a long time to come!
Conway and Ruturaj, the opening pair, established the tone for the chase with an incredible 87-run partnership. Conway stuck with the game to the very end, scoring 77* off 57 deliveries, while Ruturaj struck a 30-ball 35. In the IPL 2023, this was Conway's third half-century in a row.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had previously been held to 134/7 in 20 overs. With a score of 34 from 26 balls, opener Abhishek Sharma led the way for the visitors. With stats of 4-0-22-3, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was outstanding for the Super Kings when he had the ball. Jadeja secured the wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, and Abhishek Sharma.
Each of Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana, and Akash Singh claimed a wicket. Because of his outstanding spell, Jadeja was named Player of the Match.
