India's Cultural Heritage Sites serve as live reminders of the nation's rich cultural heritage and long history. These locations are artistic treasures and architectural wonders that will protect India's legacy for future generations.

Below is a list of India's Cultural Heritage sites, constructed using information from UNESCO.

  1.  Agra Fort - (Uttar Pradesh).Known as Agra's Red Fort, the Agra Fort (Qila Agra) is a historic fort located in the city. At this fort, Mughal emperor Humayun was crowned.
  2. Ajanta Caves -One of the greatest accomplishments in ancient Buddhist rock-cut construction is the Ajanta Caves. The creative traditions of Ajanta offer a significant and unique collection of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts related to the sociocultural, religious, and political history of modern India. (Maharashtra).
  3. Ellora Caves - In addition to serving as a testament to the three major world religions—Buddhism, Brahminism, and Jainism—the Ellora Caves also serve as an example of the ancient Indian culture of tolerance that allowed these three faiths to form their communities and places of worship.(Maharashtra).
  4. Taj Mahal -The Taj Mahal is an Agra marble mausoleum made of ivory and white that was constructed in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan  because of its exquisite Mughal architecture and lovely gardens (Uttar Pradesh).
  5. Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram -Situated on the Coromandel Coast in southeast India, Mahabalipuram, also known as Mamallapuram, was a renowned Pallava port city. In addition to the excavated remnants of temples, the group of monuments there includes bas-relief sculptures, rock-cut cave temples, monolithic temples, and structure temples. (Tamil Nadu) 
  6. Sun Temple, Konark-The Sun Temple stands as a remarkable physical reminder of the Hindu Kingdom of Orissa in the thirteenth century, when Narasimha Deva I ruled there (AD 1238-1264). Its size, sophistication, and design symbolize the Ganga Empire's might and stability as well as the prevailing moral standards of the era.  (Odisha).
  7. Churches and Convents of Goa-The most extensive collection of churches and cathedrals constructed in Old Goa between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries AD consists of the following: Se' Cathedral, St. Francis of Assisi Church and Convent, St. Catherine Chapel, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and St. Augustine Church (Goa).
  8. Fatehpur Sikri - Located west of Agra in northern India, Fatehpur Sikri is a small city that was established in the sixteenth century by a Mughal ruler. Buildings with red sandstone are grouped in the middle. The mosque's entrance is Buland Darwaza Gate, home to Jama Masjid. Salim Chishti's marble tomb is located nearby. The center pillar of Diwan-E-Khas Hall is sculpted. Adjacent to the five-story Panch Mahal, which commands an overlook of the location, is the Hindu-Mughal styled Jodha Bais Palace.(Uttar Pradesh).
  9. Group of Monuments at Hampi-Among them, the complex of temples dedicated to Krishna, Narasimha, Ganesha, the Hemakuta group of temples, Achyutaraya, Vitthala, Pattabhirama, and the Lotus Mahal can be singled out. ( Karnataka).
  10. Khajuraho Group of Monuments -Built in the mediaeval century by the Chandela Dynasty, the UNESCO site of 'Khajuraho Group of Monuments' is famous for its Nagara-Style architecture and graceful sculptures of nayikas (Hindu Mythological female protagonists) and deities.( Madhya Pradesh).
  11. Elephanta Caves-The main cave is well known across the world for its carvings honoring Shiva, who is glorified in a variety of forms and acts. The cave is made up of a square-plan mandapa with sides that are roughly 27 meters wide.  (Maharashtra).
  12. Great Living Chola Temples-The Brihadisvara in Thanjavur, the Brihadisvara in Gangaikondacholapuram, and the Airavatesvara in Darasuram are three temples that are still in use today.  (Tamil Nadu).
  13. Group of Monuments at Pattadakal-In Pattadakal, a vast complex of temples was constructed by the Chalukyas in the 7th or 8th century CE for royal memorial and coronation. Pattadakal, which translates as "coronation stone," is evidence of the Early Chalukyan architecture's development in a later stage. ( Karnataka).
  14. Santiniketan -Rabindranath Tagore and Nandalal Bose are two of the town's most renowned literary and creative alumni. Furthermore, the Visva Bharati functions as the cultural hub of Shantiniketan.( West Bengal).
  15. Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi-One of the earliest stone buildings in India and a significant piece of Indian architectural history is the Great Stupa in Sanchi. In the third century BCE, Ashoka the Great, the Mauryan monarch, placed the initial order for it. Its central component was a basic brick hemispherical building that was erected over the Buddha's relics.  (Madhya Pradesh).
  16. Mountain Railways of India-The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, situated in the foothills of the Himalayas in West Bengal (Northeast India), spans 5.34 hectares. The Nilgiri Mountain Railways, situated in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu (South India), spans 4.59 hectares. These two railways make up the Mountain Railway of India. 
  17. Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi -Fourteen years after his death, in 1569–1570, Biga Begum (Hajji Begum), the second Mughal Emperor of India, had her husband Humayun's tomb erected at an estimated expense of 1.5 million rupees. Ghiyath Mirak Mirza was the architect. It has about 150 burials and was subsequently used to bury various members of the royal family. 
  18. Qutub Minar and Monuments, Delhi-The Qutub Minar complex in Delhi is home to a 12th-century minaret that rises to a height of 73 meters. It is an exquisite illustration of Indo-Islamic building design. The 'Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar' (MGMD) initiative, which included a large-scale projection mapping event, was officially launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 27 at Qutub Minar as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. ( Delhi).
  19. Mahabodhi Temple Complex at Bodh Gaya- Situated in Bodh Gaya, the ancient Buddhist temple known as the Mahabodhi Temple (literally, "Great Awakening Temple").It is believed to be the site where the Buddha obtained enlightenment. The Mahabodhi Tree is to the temple's east. It has an amazing architectural effect.( Bihar).
  20. Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka- They are well-known across the world for its prehistoric cave drawings that show signs of human civilization as early as 8,000 B.C., or roughly 10,000 years ago.  (Madhya Pradesh).
  21. Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park - Gujarat,  It is situated close to the ancient city of Champaner, which was established in the eighth century by the most well-known ruler of the Chavda Dynasty, Vanraj Chavda.
  22. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus -Built in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) was initially named Victoria Terminus in her honor. (Maharashtra).
  23. Red Fort Complex - Rising to a height of 75 feet (23 meters), the enormous red sandstone walls of the fort encompass an elaborate mosque, as well as a complex of palaces and pleasure rooms, with projecting balconies, spas, and interior canals, as well as geometrical gardens.( Delhi).
  24. Jantar Mantar -An observatory for astronomy located in Jaipur, the Jantar Mantar was constructed in the early 1700s. There are about twenty primary stationary instruments in all. These are massive masonry representations of well-known instruments, many of which have unique qualities of their own.(Jaipur).
  25. Hill Forts of Rajasthan -Six large, impressive hill forts in the State of Rajasthan collectively depict the intricate, fortified capitals of the Rajput princely states, which thrived from the eighth to the eighteenth century, and their relative political independence. (Rajasthan).
  26. Rani Ki Vav (The Queen’s Stepwell)This stepwell, known as Rani Ki Vav (lit. 'The Queen's Stepwell,' is located in the Gujarati town of Patan. It's situated alongside the Saraswati River.- ( Gujarat).
  27. Archaeological Site of Nalanda Mahavira at Nalanda Bihar. The State of Bihar, in northeastern India, is home to the Nalanda Mahavihara site. It is made up of the archaeological remnants of a monastic and scholarly establishment that existed from the third and the thirteenth centuries BCE.
  28. The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier, an Outstanding Contribution to the Modern Movement:Modern ideas are strongly related to Le Corbusier's architectural designs, which represent a new spirit known as the "Esprit Nouveau". Some of Le Corbusier's unique constructions are attempts at standardizing architecture, while others are prototypes or amalgamations of many contemporaneous concepts with an eye toward the future.- ( Chandigarh).
  29. Historic City of Ahmedabad-On the eastern bank of the Sabarmati River, Sultan Ahmad Shah established the walled city of Ahmadabad in 1411 AD.  (Gujarat).
  30. Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai-Within Mumbai's Fort precinct, the Victorian Gothic and Art Deco Ensembles of Bombay are a combination of 19th-century Victorian Revival public buildings and 20th-century Mumbai Art Deco private structures.   (Maharashtra).
  31. Jaipur City -Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II established Jaipur, the famed "Pink City," a medieval walled city, in 1727. Its old buildings' terracotta-pink hue is the source of its nickname( Rajasthan).
  32. Kakatiya Rudreshwara (Ramappa) Temple -The Ramappa Temple, sometimes called the Rudreswara Temple, is a Hindu temple built in the Kakatiya architecture in Palamet Village, Mulugu District, Telangana, India. It is devoted to the Hindu god Shiva. The distances are 15 kilometers to Mulugu, 66 km to Warangal, and 209 km to Hyderabad. (Telangana).
  33. Dholavira, a Harappan City-The Tropic of Cancer is where Dholavira is located. It is the most well-known Indus Valley Civilization archeological site in India and one of the five biggest Harappan sites. It is situated on Khadir Bet Island in the Great Rann of Kutch's Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary. (Gujarat).

34. Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysala- The three temples were built in the 12th and 13th centuries, They stand for the Nagara customs and the influences of the Bhumija and Dravidian styles( Karnataka).
