JoJI- A subtle thriller
The film is directed by dileesh pothan and story is inspired from the famous Shakesperes’s play Macbeth. The screenplay was written by Syam Pushkaran. Lead actors are Fahad Faasil, Baburaj, Unnimaya Prasad and Basil Joseph. Cinematography done by shyju Kahlid amd music done by Justin Varghese. Fahad Fassil also join hands with the production crew.
The Movie starts in a beautiful backdrop of Kerala rubber estate house where Jojis family residing. Joji (Fahaad) living with his father Panachel , Brothers Jomon and Jaison. Panachel kuttapan is somewhat old however very stronger both in his physique and character. He does all his works and manages the properties himself. Jomon is a Divorce who looks after the agriculture in his father properties and Jaison manges their other business. Jaison is married with Bincy and they have a son.
JoJI is a Engineering dropout who manages to live in his father’s wealth. JOJI and his family is so eager to split the property among themselves but they are unable to do it because of their adamant father. One day a mishap happened and Panachel is hospitalised and undergone through a surgery. He is bedridden and finally died and the whole family has no clue left for their fathers death beneath the surgery. Jomon Put crackers to his fathers last ride to funeral which left the family and relatives doubt Jomon for their fathers death. After some days Jomon also found dead. This brings the twist to the story whoever some of the members of the family and even the audience knows who the killers is the great screen play of the movie.
There is no suspense in the story from first till last however the feeling of what happens next gives a immense treat to the viewers till the end. There is nothing to say about the acting Fahad. I wont say he is a hero in Malayalam industry rather an actor in Indian cinema. His eyes and facial expressions truly delivers what he wants to convey without any language barrier.
Other performances like unnimaya Prasad and Baburaj truly stands within their character and delivers what is required. Especially Unnimaya as Bincy who can show the eager for the properties but stands unfortunate that she can’t do anything openly .
The first scene itself giving us goosebumps when JojIs cousin open the package of shot gun. Music is in a top top notch specially BGM. It really helps us feel the moment and echos hard what happens next. The movie is available on Amazon Prime video with English subtitles.
