Women today are showing their talent in all fields. They are proving that Bharti Kanda's innovation is me.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. Spurred by the universal female suffrage movement, IWD originated from labor movements in North America and Europe during the early 20th century.

International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. A day where women are recognized for their achievements irrespective of nationality, race, language, culture, economy and politics

Since those early years, International Women's Day has taken on a new global dimension for women in both developed and developing countries. A growing international women's movement, bolstered by four global United Nations conferences on women, helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women's rights and participation in political and economic arenas.

It is more important than ever to prioritize these goals and hope to build prosperous economies and a sustainable planet

History and Evolution of International Women's Day (IWD)
The origins of International Women's Day are intertwined with the women's suffrage movement. The women's suffrage movement, which began in the 18th century, fought for women's suffrage, and suffragists used extreme tactics to achieve their goal. Suffragettes were generally women who advocated for women's right to vote.
In 1910, an International Socialist Women's Conference was organized with 100 delegates from 17 countries, who proposed an annual "Women's Day" to promote equal rights, including women's suffrage. The following year, in 1911, the first International Women's Day was celebrated by over a million people in Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland.

International Women's Day (IWD) grew out of early 20th century efforts to promote women's rights, particularly the right to vote. In the campaign for women's suffrage, the Socialist Party of America first held National Women's Day in 1909, marked by mass meetings across the United States; The day was observed till 1913. Encouraged by German activist Clara Zetkin, the International Socialist Congress agreed to create an international version of the American holiday in 1910, and on March 19, 1911, the first IWD was held in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. More than a million people participated in rallies to mark the day. In subsequent years IWD was celebrated in additional countries and on different dates. On March 8 (February 23, Old Style), 1917, women in Petrograd (St. Petersburg), Russia, marked the day by striking against food shortages, poor living conditions, and the First World War. This strike for "bread and peace" helped spark the Russian Revolution of 1917, which led to the abdication of Nicholas II on March 15 (March 2). In 1921 the date of IWD was officially changed to March 8.
