We're back with another blogging and web design interview series, this time we'll talk with Chris. Chris is a creative professional who focuses on graphic design, website development, and typeface design. He has a specialty in creating typefaces in unconventional font weights. When did you start blogging and how did you end up choosing that as a medium? I started blogging in March 2012 after I signed up for a blog writing course at my local library. The courses are free to attend if you have a library card, which I do because it's my job. I had no experience as a blogger so I asked the teacher, who asked some of her friends who gave me a few suggestions on what to write about.

It can also be a place for other people to express themselves. I blog mostly about books because I’m an author, but that’s not why I do it. I started a blog because I realized I wasn’t reading nearly as many books as I should be. I saw some other blogs, so I figured I’d give it a try. Why should you start a blog? It’s fun. I get to connect with new people, share things, and have fun. I have found that a blog can be extremely helpful when it comes to promotion, reviewing, and reaching people. When you put up links on your blog, you can create community with your readers and other authors.
Many people believe that it is a huge investment of time and money to start a blog. While there is certainly the opportunity to earn a considerable income through blogging, it is by no means a foolproof strategy. You could lose money and time without having to do anything extra. Also, do not forget that you are not in control of the return you get. In fact, the exact opposite is true – blogs are unpredictable and can change from one minute to the next. While the income is one thing to consider, it is also necessary to consider the time you need to commit.
