Hey therapist!! yes, you wondering why did I call you a therapist well because you are one. If you have been practicing some art then you are one. Art is basically an expression. Expression of emotions, beauty, anger, your imagination, wonderful ideas, creative thoughts, etc. Art is diversified into painting, sculpture, architecture, theater, music, dance, literature, film, and other interactive media over the years. Every artist tries to express his thoughts/feelings/story through the medium of art. This is exactly what someone does in front of a therapist. But here Art acts as a medium through which people can express themselves, express whatever is inside them/ bothering them. They let their emotions out by doing the art activity. people become their own therapists while performing any kind of this art. Your art is not just an art but a therapy and you are not just an artist my friend you are a therapist.
And the best part of performing art is you can save some bucks instead of spending it on therapists and doctors.
A person with anger issues might be a dancer too and dance might divert his/her energy in a correct direction, a painter might depict his story through his paintings, while a musician would express his feelings through music. That is why art is called an expression. When you express you feel light and relieved. This is possible by only performing your art and not even visiting a therapist. Art can take away your pain and give you fresh air to breathe. When you speak out to a therapist you feel lighter but not everyone is able to speak or comfortable for that matter. So art speaks for such people.
A person who understands art can exactly get the story that an artist wants to convey. There are so many art forms used by people to express their emotions. that is why it makes sense why art is therapy, people feel relaxed, relieved, happy, stress-free.
