NCC is one of the oldest youth unions representing our students and teenagers other than our other forces like Army, BSF and other paramilitary forces.
I too joined NCC of my college's wing. I joined it when I was in class 11th. I was very much interested in our defence forces. I too dreamt of joining our Army. So, I decided to join the NCC.
I will never forget the first day of joining NCC. All the new cadets were ordered to report at our parade ground at 7 am sharp. I reached there 10 minutes late. Though the officials there were very strict, but as it was my first day with the battalion they instructed me not to repeat this.
The first day was very tough for me to survive as I got totally exhaust after the 1st round of drill which was extraordinary. I got nearly fainted as I lost my consciousness due to the hard drill and parade.
But my seniors were very supportive. They were my guardian at the camp. We got lessons on discipline and how our defence forces work. We were in our initial days at NCC. I really enjoyed the first day but I was totally exhausted and my whole body was aching that day.
Now it became my routine of everyday. I reported at the parade ground everymorning on time, we were instructed to trim our nails and hair regularly and we were not allowed to keep beard. My training at NCC was going very well. We met Army officials, our soldiers, they taught us discipline, how to behave with our seniors, how to give respect to our National Symbols and many more. I felt that I was living a life of a soldier. At the time of joining NCC, I was almost overweight but after 2 months of hard training and drills I was regarded fit. I felt that I have got good body shape after these two months of hard drills and hectic workouts at the parade ground.
Then came the most awaited moment for me that was the independence day parade. Our parade practice was going very well day by day and I was also improving in my drills. On the independence day all of the cadets were dressed in the NCC outfit. We all performed very well at the parade. Thank you to our seniors and our instructors who helped us perform so well at the parade. The time I spent with NCC is one of my favourite memories that I'll never forget. This taught me discipline, the way of living, how to keep patients in adverse situations, how to make good decisions and achieve our goals. It played a very important part in my life as I feel blessed to be a part of the NCC.
