Hello friends !! Today I would like to share some very interesting facts about Bhutan. Some facts are known to you but trust me there are really some very unique facts about this country.   If you want to learn about those beautiful things and facts about Bhutan please go ahead and read my entire blog for getting your knowledge bank filled up.

1.Bhutan has banned cigarettes  from the year 2010. You cannot produce or sell tobacco in Bhutan.

2. Smoking is strictly not allowed in Bhutan. You have to pay huge fine for smoking,.

3. Television and internet were banned until 1999. Bhutan is found to be the last country to have introduced television.

 There are only two fixed channels which broadcast only during some fixed time interval in a day.

4. Bhutanese men were a dress called Gho and women were Kira which is quite similar to a saree. 

5. In Bhutan the properties are passed down to the eldest daughter and here married men comes to live with their wives in the wife's house.  Men earn money for their keep but properties are owned by the women. 

6. The airport of Bhutan is located in a crucial area which is a deep valley, surrounded by high mountains.  So landing becomes risky at times.  So the Bhutanese government allows flight only during daytime and only if the weather condition is good enough.

7. Bhutan is the only country with negative carbon content level and almost 72 percent area is covered under forest. 

8. From 1990 , plastic has been banned in this country.

9. Animal slaughter is banned in Bhutan. But Bhutanese are not vegetarian. Meat and fish are imported from India. 

10. In Bhutan chili pepper is eaten raw like a snack.

 
11. The Bhutanese do not ever celebrate their birthdays. The Bhutanese constitution does not require to remember the birthdays. And most of the citizens are seen to have their birthdays on first January in their passport. But the birthday of the king is very important. 

12. Bhutan does not allow too many tourists in their land because they believe that would disturb the nature of their livelihood  and traditions. Bhutan charges a huge money from tourists for visiting that land. And cheap options of any kind are not entertained in Bhutan.
