Some Great Personalities We Lost In 2020

The year 2020 has been one of its kind. There has been many things happening throughout the length and breadth of the year. One such thing is the loosing of the great people who came from different fields and dedicated their lives as  true champions. Let us recall those great personalities and their great contribution to our country..!!

SOUMITRO CHATTERJEE 

This great actor was the choice of Satyajit Ray who had selected him for the lead role in the film ‘ Apur Sangshar’. This film achieved appreciation all throughout the globe even in the Oscars. He has been serving the film industry with his grand acting skills and has always portrayed himself as the most dignified actor that Indian cinema will ever see.

P.K.BANERJEE

An unbelievably talented footballer  a gifted son of  Mother India. He became the champion in the Calcutta Football League in 1958. At the age of 19, he got the call from the National team of India. In 1956, in the Melbourne Olympic , P.K. played a significant role to defeat the then Olympic organizer team , Australia. P.K. was selected as the Captain of the Rome Olympic National Team in the 60s. In 1962, P.K.s team won the gold after winning the Asian Games final in Jakarta.

Once the great footballer  Pele, said that it was because of P. K. Banerjee that he could not exhibit his football skills before the audience of India.

He was awarded with the Arjuna in 1961. FIFA awarded the this great footballer the position of the best footballer of India, in the year 2004.

PRANAB MUKHOPADHYAY

This great president of India had several crucial achievements to his credit. In 1973 , he got the position of Cabinet minister in the cabinet of the then prime minister, Indira Gandhi. In 1980, he became the  leader of congress in Rajya Sabha. Due to his great work,  he secured the place among world's best 5 finance ministers in 1984 by the ‘Euromoney’ Magazine. In 1984, he was selected for the second time as a finance minister under the cabinet of Dr. Manmohan Singh. He became the deputy chairman of the planning commission for the second time in 1991. In 2006, he signed the United states civil Nuclear Agreement MOU. This was one of the most important MOU, that elevated the position of our country to a prestigious position. At last, in 2012 his name was nominated for the post of the prestigious presidential position. In 2019, Pranab Mukherjee was awarded the Bharat Ratna. 

CHUNI GOSWAMI

There are some Humans who are destined to win the show that they take part into. One such talented footballer was Chuni  Goswami. A vibrant player in the field with lots of achievements to his credits.  He has helped our national team to win the gold in the Olympic games in the year 1956. He was a multitalented person. He had also acted in a Bengali film. He became the sheriff Of Kolkata in the year 2005. There are few evergreen performers in the field of Indian sports, one such twinkling star was the name- Chuni Gooswami.

BASU CHATTERJEE 

This great film director has left the greatest of films that Indian cinema will ever see. Today no films are made on Indian cultural perspective and family life. This great personality portrayed the beauty of Indian culture through his great films like 'Piya ka ghar', 'Rajanigandha', 'Baton Baton Mein', Chitchor, choti si baat, Manjil, Chakrabuh, Chameli ki shaadi,  and many more such beautiful films which focused on the beauty of Indian society. Some of these films also criticized the negatives of Indian society but in the most beautiful way which todays director are lacking to portray..  The main subject of his films was Hope and Love.

RISHI KAPOOR

No one needs to describe this showman and actor. He has proved his talents through his films. Films like ‘Bobby’ and ‘ Henna’ and ‘ Sagar’ has proved his romantic and heart touching capacity of acting.  The most attractive actor of his time. Even during his aged years he has given us some lovely films. He also shared the scree with his wife, Neetu Kapoor in a film just little time before his death. Rishi Kapoor was a gifted actor and he was one amongst those actors who worked with younger heroines with the same Charisma.  One of his very famous film was ‘Damini’ where he acted opposite Meenakshi Sheshadri. This talented actor had bagged several awards during his acting tenure. We will always remember him in his performance as a child artist in ‘ Mera Naam Joker’ . 

SAROJ KHAN

One of the few choreographers in our country who explored the art of dancing in such a level that it was an immediate box office hit. Saroj khan was the person behind the success of lots of actresses'. Her choreography was unique in each work. What we perceive as dancing numbers were first shown to us by these personality. If we list her hit songs it will be a long list. But topmost actresses of the film industry like Sridevi , Madhuri and Kareena has described the immense talent that this lady possessed. Before her death , she was found very depressed for not getting acknowledgement from the industry. Its our misfortune if we could not appreciate this immense talent during her tenure. But her work and contribution can never die out from the film history of India.

S.P. BALASUBRAMANIUM

This great singer was a gift to the music industry of India. He has left with us some hits of lifetime like' yeh haseen wadiya, maine pyar kiya, merre rang mein. The most loved films that he gave his voice were Sajaan, Hum apke hain kaun and many more films. He won the  Padmashree in 2001 and the Padmabhushan in 2011.

SHARBARI DUTTA

This lady left her signature designs and ideas to the Indian fashion industry after her death in 2020. She was a creative genius in the world of fashion which rose the Indian fashion industry to a great height.

IRFAN KHAN

Irfan khan was nothing but an untimely loss for the film industry. We could hardly forget his films because they are fresh in our minds, that this great man passed away.  Their are very few actors who possess their own uniqueness. Irfan was such kind of an actor. We don't even know how many more great films we would have been gifted , more, had he lived for more years…amongst us…!!

SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT

A talented actor who would be mourned for throughout lifetime for his very very untimely death.  He has left his mark in each work that he has done. From serials to films he has left his mark. This young upcoming and very very talented actors death can never be justified with any sort of explanation. We only wish he had lived with us for more years….But wherever he is, we pray for his peace…!!
