What are the signs of heat stroke in a dog?
When a dog gets a heat stroke the dog starts to show signs of exhaustion and it starts panting . After that their legs starts to shake and the dog eventually stats salivation to a great extent. At this time the body temperature of the dog can reach from 106 to 108 degrees Celsius.
How to take care of the dog after it has suffered a heat stroke?
In this case try to bring the dog in a cold place and wet the body of the dog with a wet piece of cloth and put some ice on its head till the body temperature comes to normal. You can also give the salt water or glucose as a drink to the dog. But if the temperature of the dog increases to a great extent its advisable to see a doctor, because otherwise there are chances for the dog getting convulsion. And one more point which we forget many a times, that is not to take the dog directly out of the AC to the sun. And also we need to avoid taking the dog directly from the sun to an A.C room.
How should dogs be fed in summer?
Its also quite important to take care of the food habits of the dog during summer. In order to keep the body cool, you can give the dog some curd . Try to give less amount of dog food. Small dogs like to eat cucumber and water melon , so you can try to give these kind of fruits to them. Only one thing has to be kept in mind and that is to avoid giving protein in a large quantity. Apart from this try to bathe the dog at least twice in a week and occasionally rub its body with a wet piece of cloth.
