Digital mass media can be described as the extensive phrase describing telivision, radio, film, newspaper and magazines.  Digital mass media not just the journalistic aspect of the apparatus of popular communication.  The digital mass media often perform as the focal point of social control and the source of popular culture.  Digital media helps preserve historical events, scientific facts and discoveries and teach morals.  Basically the commercial enterprise digital media can represent, frequently effect how we dress, what we buy and how our society functions.

Rise of Digital mass media:                                                                                                                           In the middle age, the church held elaborate and effective means in place to ensure transmission to everyone without exception.  This could be called mass communication, although it was largely independent of   any ‘digital media’ in the contemporary sense.  Independent digital media arrived in the form of printing.  The digital mass media acquired a particular social and cultural definition.  History of digital mass media have four main elements.                                                                                       Certain communicative purpose, needs, or uses, technology for communicating publicly to many at a distance, forms of social organisation that provides the skills and framework for production and distribution and organisation forms of governance in the public interest.

Print digital media:                                                                                                             Modern digital media begins with the printed book - it is a kind of revolution.  Books were printed for reading or verbal transmission.  Religious and philosophical books were printed and circulated.  Gradually printing became a new craft and significant branch of education.

Using digital media in schools:                                                                                                              There are two major approaches to using digital media in schools.  Students can learn from digital media, and students can learn with digital media.  Learning from digital media and technology os often referred to interns such as instrumental television, computer based instructions, or integrated learning systems.  Learning with digital media is referred to in terms such as cognitive tools and constructive learning enlivenments.  Many feel, that using television fosters violence and aggressive behaviour among school children and adolescents.  Television provides a steady flow of violence ranging toas many as 25 violent acts per hour in children's programming.  Research studies show that viewing violence on television is moderately correlated with aggression in school going children.  Many politicians have come to accept the conclusion that television violence has negative effects on youth.  But Howard Gardner, a well-known developmental psychologist at Harvard University, is a proponent of the idea that certain kinds of television stimulate creativity and imagination in young children.
