Pollution is a major problem that negatively affects the health of people all over the world. In India, environmental quality has deteriorated from bad to worse. The World Health Organization (WHO) has ranked the Indian capital as the most polluted city in the world in terms of the quality of the air people breathe (Bildung, 2018).

In the past, China is known to have very high levels of air pollution in their cities, which negatively affects people's health. But now, India's environmental health, especially air quality, has deteriorated. According to Michael Greenstone, when the impact of poor air quality is measured on life expectancy, 200 million Indians living in Indian cities could lose an average of 3.3 years of life expectancy due to air pollution. Greenstone & Pande, 2014). India's environmental problem needs to be urgently addressed so that future generations can survive sustainably.

Pollution - A Major Problem of the Present Era
India as a country has been facing the problem of pollution for a long time. The entire population of the country, especially city dwellers, breathes air that exceeds "national air quality standards". According to the study, improving air quality naturally can increase the life expectancy of Indians by an average of 3.2 years. In India, the costs associated with air pollution and other forms of pollution are very high, leading to premature death and adverse health effects. Some of the economic costs of pollution in India include increasing health care costs and reducing India's labor capacity. According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), ambient air pollution alone can cost India more than 0.5 trillion USD per year (Greenstone et al., 2017, p 1) .

Air pollution is the presence of harmful substances in the air that affects people and the environment. Air pollutants have adverse effects on health and climate change. This affects not only human health but also flora, fauna and

other natural resources. What is the cause of air pollution? It is mainly caused by emission of toxic gases from petroleum, automobiles, coal and wood burning, metallurgical processing, chemical fertilizers, etc. The emissions are harmful to the environment and ultimately affect the human respiratory system.

Is there an effect of air pollution? Yes, it releases harmful gases into the atmosphere such as particulates, carbon monoxide, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, carbon dioxide, aerosols and other automotive exhaust gases. As a result, serious health problems have been reported in humans and animals. They are exposed to respiratory problems, asthma and other chronic diseases. Most inhaled air is contaminated with harmful chemicals and gases. This leads to global warming, forest fires and other natural disasters.

How to prevent air pollution? We must take strict measures to fix this problem. It is important to control air pollution by reducing harmful emissions from industries, using non-polluting fuels for transportation, recycling waste, planting more trees and increasing reforestation. to us. Although we have increased the level of air pollution to serious levels, we can still find different ways to reduce the pollutants. Together we can breathe fresh air and protect the environment for future generations.

Causes of Air Pollution
There are times when the air we breathe is very pure and clean. Unfortunately, toxic gases cause significant air pollution. The factors that contribute to air pollution are outlined below:

Concentrations of gases in the environment that make the air toxic.
Burning fossil fuels and firewood.
Deforestation and felling of trees.
Release of harmful gases into the atmosphere such as aerosols, nitrogen oxides, carbon and sulfur.
Toxic gases emitted by industries.
Emissions of chlorofluorocarbons into the atmosphere
Emissions of industrial, agricultural and thermal power wastes.

Effects of air pollution
Do you feel suffocated when you breathe in car fumes? This is because the smoke or the air you breathe in is contaminated. Needless to say, air pollution seriously affects life

Conclusion:

We all need to come together and help each other to reduce air pollution in our atmosphere. To ensure a safe and healthy life for our future generations, we must follow the rules and take necessary measures to prevent air pollution.
