Must watch!. Every Indian should watch this movie, Proud to be an Indian😍.
Rocket experiments are not held in scientific laboratories or aerospace facilities. It starts with a nice shot of Nambi Narayanan (Madhavan) at his home in Trivandrum where the whole family is getting ready to attend the family wedding. How many years have they been together for such an event It's been a long time, says Meena (Simran). Everyone is excited. Nambi's arrest doesn't go as expected. But why would the police go after an ISRO scientist who has made so much contribution to the country's science and technology sector? Rocketry is the story of Nambi Narayanan's illustrious career as an ISRO scientist and how he was subsequently treated when he was involved in a false episode incident. Madhavan deserves credit for choosing a theme that many are unaware of, and more importantly, not watering it down by adding a "filmy" element. But honest intentions alone don't make for great movies. Biographies are relatively easier to decipher than fictional themes. Madhavan's advantage is that he has a wealth of material in front of him. This is his directorial debut. Choosing the most significant events in Nambi's dramatic life was important, and Madhavan chose the best. But even translated into film, it still feels like a stray rocket.
The first half feels like an extension of a science class, and there are several jargon that many people don't care about. In these sections, the film has little talent and feels like a scene recording Nambi's victory in the scientific world, the same film that says "Nambi is a genius". In addition to that, the subject required many foreign actors (Nambi studied at Princeton University), most of whom were quite poor at performing and speaking. The Tamil version of this movie actually had an unintentionally interesting conversation that stood out. In the second half, Rocket feels like a movie, like Rocket suddenly starts to move. The dialogue becomes sharper. Madhavan's mediocre directing skills are made up for by actor Madhavan, who comes alive in Nambi's old-time parts. The actor masters some of these sequences, especially the ones following prison torture. My favorite is the sequence where he is offered tea by an officer... And this after being traumatized by his own negligence. In this scene, Madhavan's hands are trembling, his fingers are trembling, and his lips are quivering. It perfectly embodies the battered man. Also, Karthik Kumar as a CBI officer, Simran as Nambi's wife who has to go through a lot in this tumultuous journey, and Suriya in a cameo as an interviewer provide great little performances.
Rocketry's story is definitely one that needs to be told to audiences. But behind this idea lies a film that is only partially connected and awkward in many places. In the film, the characters state that scientists are strange people. Maybe Rocket is that weird movie that keeps oscillating between fact and feeling without making any discernible statement.
