On May 22, 1894, Gandhi founded the Natal Indian Congress (NIC) to help improve the rights of South African Indians. In a short time, Gandhi became the leader of the Indian community in South Africa. Ancient Indian Literature of Tiluk Lal originally written in Tamil and later translated into various languages. Gandhi was also influenced by this old book. Influenced by the idea of Satyagraha, his devotion to truth, he held non-violent protests in 1906. After 21 years of his life in South Africa, he returned to India in 1915. He definitely fought for civil rights in South Africa and was reborn as a new human being at the time.
The Independence Moment:
In 1915, Gandhiji settled permanently in India and attended the Indian National Congress with Gopal Krishna Gokale as his mentor. His first great achievement of Gandhi came in 1918 when he led the Champarang and Kheda agitation in Bihar and Gujarat. He also led the non-cooperation movement against the British government, the civil disobedience movement, the Swaraj movement and the India withdrawal movement.
Champaran Satyagraha: Champaran Satyagraha was a combination of elements of unconstitutional struggle and the use of moral power against opponents, who are the model of the rule of law. Use compromise as a bet. This is India's first civil disobedience movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi, protesting the unjustified acts committed to peasants in the Champaran district of Bihar. The Champarang district was part of a settlement consisting of large zamindari estates among wealthy and influential landowners. Most of the villages were rented from Zamindar to Tikadar, the most influential of which was the European indigo planter. Although Planter was a temporary landowner, he not only collected rent from farmers, but also exercised civil and criminal jurisdiction.
Gandhiji and Champaran Satyagraha:
Gandhi arrived in Champaran in 1917 with Raj Kumar Shukla. Upon his arrival, the district judge provided him with a notice that he would not stay in Champaran County, but would take the first available train. Gandhi did not obey this order. He was summoned to appear in court. "If you leave the district now and promise not to return, the proceedings against you will be withdrawn," the Justice of the Peace said. "It's impossible," Gandhi replied. "I came here for humanitarian and national service. I will make Champaran my home and work for those who are suffering."
Gandhi's charisma appeared in front of the crowd, "You must calm down and show your faith in me and my work. The judge has the right to arrest me for failing to obey his orders. Had. If I go to jail, you have to admit it is fair. We have to work peacefully. And violence harms our cause. Probably.
