Don follows the story of Chakaravarthi(Sivakarthikeyan), who comes from an economically background family. A typical middle-class father (Samuthirkani) forces his son to become an engineer in order to succeed in life. Any opposition will not work against father because he is strict. He didn't want his son to take risks. When he went to technical school, he just wanted to have fun. And he finds many different ways to do it. At his university, he meets Professor Boominathan (SJ Suryah), the head of the disciplinary committee. He imposed an ancient rule in the name of discipline and drew the wrath of Chakravarthi and the other students. He devises a plan to teach Boominathan a lesson. In the process, he finds his calling and what he wants to do in life. Cibi Chakravarthi showed a lot of promise in his film debut, Don. He knows how to elevate a simple story and execute it easily with interesting ideas. Recreating iconic scenes of Vaali and Baasha, Don takes everyone on a nostalgic ride. And that's why the movie works to a great extent. The film takes place in a technical school, is based on realism and reminds you of your mentors. Yes, all kinds of them.
When Don is serious about it. At some point, Chakravarthi seems to be taking lessons on family values. The range that Sivakarthikeyan has shown as an actor is commendable. He scores in emotional scenes, especially in the final stages. This movie belongs to SJ Surya and Sivakarthikeyan. In every movie, SJ Surya proves that he is one of the best actors we have today. Priyanka Arul Mohan and Samuthirkani replay the roles they played in the past. The Bala Saravanan and Mirchi Vijay comedy works while Sivaangi is at the forefront of her performance.
Priyanka Arul Mohan receives a heroic introduction, but appears in the film primarily to inspire the protagonist. Also, the romantic subplot involving her and Sivakarthikeyan consists of common scenes. After a stoic detour to the Doctor, Sivakarthikeyan laughed, cried, danced, and somehow made the movie more bearable. Some of his scenes with SJ Surya (characters are also almost monotonous) work well. Aniruth Ravichandran does musical gymnastics and tries to sqeeze the scene with background music, but all these supporting elements can't scripts with weak plots.
Don is an awesome entertainer with a moving message. With a brilliant comedy sequence and vibrant songs, Don is a pure theater clock.
Don movie IMDb rating - 7.5 out of 10 .
