Like Her Not Me You Idiot!!!

So story starts when I was in 12th grade. In my collage days, I had joined drama club, and drama-club was the famous thing in our collage. So because of that I got a little popularity and I was overflowing with confidence. You can say, I was the brat who never feard to mocking teachers (well I never argued with teachers in my whole life, I just answer them something silly, they just drop the argument 😅)

Apart from me there are two more characters in our story.

I have a friend named ‘Shamika’. Well Shamika was my first friend when I entered the college. She has total opposite personality then mine. She is easy going, mature and calmed type of girl. She is a innocent beauty with curly hair. When we met in a 11th grade she told me about her relationship. She was in a toxic relationship from 3 years with a boy from her local area. In a beginning of our 12th grade they had a fight and I encouraged her to breakup with him.(basically I forced her to breakup with him. Yes! I got a aggressive personality, can't help it.)

Days passed smoothly and our 12th board exams were right around the corner. Our preliminary-board practicals started and there's only 1 month to board exams.(I was a science faculty student, so we have practical things. Total 5 subjects😒).

And a bad thing about exams they f**king shuffle your roll numbers. So you have to seat by a stranger and plus there will be different sets of questions, so you can't copy from another student ( Well played education system well played…) but we students are one step ahead of everything 😜. So I got one rule of mine for a exam hall. Whoever helps me in my exam, is my friend no matter what! And first was the physics practical.

When I arrived in practical lab I noticed, they arranged two people's at one practical table. I said good, (cause no science student is dum as I said). I took my seat. There is still 20 minutes to exam. Then one boy came to my table, looked at the roll number written on table and set besides me. There's still one arm distance between us, so I just moved my table closed to him. And in a very friendly manner I said, ‘hey exam k liye prepare kar liya hai na…’  and instead of saying ‘Yes or No’ he said, ‘Dekh tuze ager koi sawal Ka answer pta ho to please meri help kar dena.’ and I was like, ‘ are Bhai hum to same Noka mai sawar hai… Dono dubenge…’  and he smiled over that.

But in reality he helped me through like 50% of my questions. and I was impressed. For 2 more practicals we shared a table and there's a nice bonding began to form. On my forth subjects practical we got our hall-tickets for board exams. Our teacher said while handing them over, ‘ there are few hall-tickets having mistakes in them, so please check and go to the registration office counter to make it correct’ Then he called my name and said, ‘oh ! you have a mistake in your name, so you have to pay some fee amount to make it correct.’ and I was like why God ! Why! Why me!!

Then I just took my hall-ticket and flew at the office counter in anger. There's a still one practical test remaining on next day, I have to study for it and also I have to pay for someone elses mistake. When I reach at a counter I saw a long line of students waiting for correcting their hall-tickets.(well that's a good way to leaching students government). From the length of the line and speed of its moving, I thought it will take 1 hour until my number comes. I was angry and there was no one to help me in that situation. I thought that hour of wait going to make me cry for sure. Then someone tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw a boy with a smile looking at me…

Non other than my very practical exam table partner. He said, there's a mistake in his name too. And just like that we joined a forces to throw tantrums on our collage and education system. Time actually passed very quickly then I imagined.

They took 250rs. From me to correct my name (somebody just raised voice for this yaar, it's just too much). When my work done, I sad him goodbye, and catch my way home. I reached at college's gate and found Shamika there, waiting. She told me she was waiting for me. And I thought what a amazing girl, she was waiting for me all this time. What a great Friend. Then Shamika said, “i want to talk to you about something. Actually I need your help.” and I was like, “ oh dear friend, you wait for me at the gate, I'll do anything for you.”

She told me, she likes that boy who was talking with me at the counter. So he was a ‘Shubham’. My new friend, practical exam partner Shubham. She likes Shubham. She said, ‘they are in a same tutions. And she likes him from very beginning. He was very nice to her, help her several times. Pays attention to her talks and she wants to be with him.'

And I don't know why but I got whole hyped up. I said, ‘Yes! you should be with him. He is a nice guy. Now you are choosing correct. I’ll help you with this. I'll be your wing-man, I mean wing- women. As now I am friends with him. I slip through your proposal. And after listening about your friendship experience he might like you too.' like this I got her all hyped up too.

We decided will asked him tomorrow as it's our officialy last day at college.( Cause for writing exams we will going to different collages. Board rules) I was excited for next day.

The next day we have to wait in our class rooms cause one oral exam will be held before practical. I was on the way to my class, when Shamika and Pooja came to me. Pooja said, ‘hey I told shubham.' and I said, ‘whhhhhhhat ? and why…’ so basically Pooja is the girl from our class and comman friend to Shubham and Shamika from their tution.

I got furious. ‘What the hell!’ I said. ‘why you do that?  The plan was, we were telling him today.’ I asked Shamika, ‘then what was his reactions?’ and Pooja inturrpted saying, ' I didn't told him everything, I just gave him a hint. I only told him that, “ someone from our class really likes you and going to propose you.”

I calmed my self. And said, 'that's fine. Let's just grab him after exam and tell him about Shamika.'  We entered in classroom. Shubham was already present in a class, so I intentionally set on a bench besides him. On his bench, he was sitting with his friends. We are all talking and exchanging every sort of things and emotions as it's our last day. First I thought he didn't noticed me. Cause he never even said ‘hi’ and when I tried, I realized he just ignored me. I thought might be I am misunderstanding something. Might be he is busy with his friends.

Then Shamika and Pooja came to my bench, Pooja came and said, ‘let’s  ask him now… I can't wait anymore to see his reactions.' I don't think she was that loud. But I saw him looking at us. We even had a eye contact, but then he again ignored me. That thing is enough to trigger me. I stand up at my place and shouted, ' hey Shubham, don't worry! I am not the girl who likes you. So you don't have to ignore me.'

My stupid mind don't thinks first about my actions. And when I realised I was in the class full of students, it was too late… but Shubham is greater idiot then me, he replied in a class saying, ‘ I was hoping, it will be you.’ and whole class was cheering with ‘ohhhhhh’ sounds. Shamika just pulled me down and said ‘stay quiet idiot’… I was confused about his words, if what I understand is correct then it's bad' I felt mixture of emotions with guilt at very moment… that moment our teacher walked in the class. And I took a breath of relief.

But we have to confessed him. So as soon as my practical got over I was run towards gate short after Shamika came… we were waiting for Shubham. And don't know why there was awkward silence between us. I saw Shubham coming so I waved at him and called him over…

He came with irritating expression on his face. God knows how I calmed my self. When he came close to us, I said, ‘ so Shubham you know her right…’ he and Shamika both looked at me with irritional expressions. So I said, ' let's cut the chase Shubham… Shamika likes you. And I know you like her too, so I leave you two love birds together, confesse properly and don't forget to give me my fees and thank me later.'

Over this that idiot Shubham turn towards Shamika and said, ' Shamika, I am really sorry but I don't feel something like that for you. I always saw you as a friend and I like to keep it that way.' I inturrpted in between and said, ‘ you idiot that lines supposed to be come from girl. You will never find someone like her.' Then he looked at me and said, ‘ I already found someone, but she is not in her correct mind for now. She is throwing me off to someone else but i’ll make her realize.' and he just walked away saying bye to Shamika.

Shamika said, ‘sorry , I guess he is not for me. Will talk later. I need to go home now.’ and she also walked away. Even so, we go in a same direction, she didn't asked to come with me…

It throwed me in a slumbers of guilt. And this time it's not even my mistake……

Thanks for reading…. remembering this memory again made me feel guilty. I didn't have contacts with both of them now. Last we met while collecting our results. But they both ignored me smoothly. And who blam them...Peace ☮️
