Everybody out there says “This pandemic is so hard”. But if you look at the positive edge, take a look at your Linkedin feed and you will see the change.
Earlier, my feed was so dead that all I see was just people stalking HRs or Talent acquisition teams for a decent job. Things have turned around now! Now all I see is everyone landing on high profile jobs with tech giants like Google, Twitter, Facebook, Tesla and many more. The level of expertise that the younger generation possesses from college has increased considerably. How did this happen?
The amount of technology or researches being carried out internally by these tech giants are being opened for open Innovation or use for the general public. This creates a lot of difference. Apart from this, Industry level upskilling programs are being opened up for students across the globe by educational providers like Coursera, EdX, Udacity, Pluralsight, Datacamp to name a few.
Last month I came across an interesting advertisement. Pluralsight, a training partner for a lot of huge companies opened up their whole platform free of cost for public audience for one full month! Opportunities like these are so hard to come across. This definitely benefited a lot of students who were skimming all over the WWW for ‘Free’ learning content. The only thing that we have to do now is to keep our eyes open for such opportunities.
Online classes may feel a bad option, but just take a look on the brighter side. You get to learn at your pace, when you feel like it! I am a nightowl and I get things done faster when working over night. My strategy is to spend 40 minutes a day on a tech concept. It could be videos, written content, documentation or anything. The only question is, Will you continue this practice? It will take a good amount of time to sink in. But once you get rolling, the changes will be visible super fast. Make sure that you are sticking to the right content which you are aspiring for and it will work wonders
I love mentoring communities on tech concepts especially related to Google Cloud and related concepts. If you feel that, I should write more content on Cloud Tech and new opportunities on the learning ecosystem and other quality contents on any tech, feel free to drop your comments. Let's change this pandemic to a upskilling platform :)
