CoVID-19 has now become a part and partial of our life, everyday we are just counting the numbers of CoVID cases rising and the number of fatalities it is causing around the globe. We in India are going through the second wave of CoVID in which lot of people are getting affected from the double mutant corona virus, scientifically termed as B1.617 , which is spreading rapidly and reporting fatalities in just 3 days.

Months after globe was hit by CoVID we were able to make vaccines which is effective in 90% of cases. Masks, social distancing, sanitisation and vaccines are still the key weapons for us to fight covid.

Everything was not going smooth and we are now going to tackle another big situation, the third mutant of CoVID has been found in India by a scientist of ICMR, reported on 17th April,2021 in West Bengal and it is named as B1.618. The worst thing in this mutation is that it can bypass someone's immunity.

The vaccine we have developed so far is effective in double mutant of the virus but we know nothing about the third mutant, we don't know it's reaction, it's fatality rate or how it will behave and respond to the vaccine. So be aware of it, keep following the guidelines and stay safe at home.

Unfortunately, India's dire genome sequencing rates mean that little information is currently available around the new triple-mutant variant circulating in the country. 

Genome sequencing involves studying the structure of an organism and how it can change and evolve. The technique is vital in determining important information about the origins of COVID-19, the various pathways it has taken to arrive at its current form and location, and the effect of mutations on the strains transmissibility and lethality. 

Apart from proving critical in the development of new and effective vaccines, this information also serves to inform containment and control policies.

Mutation : The process of change in behavior of a virus due to the change in its nucleic materials.
