What is dentistry? It is a science and artwork where skillful handwork is prioritized .
So , how many departments are there in the dental branch? It's not that simple to say ohhh dentistry, it is just plucking the teeth. It's a wrong notion . Dentistry is not plucking the teeth ,it is called as the EXTRACTION OF THE TEETH . Coming to the departments ,it includes ,
All these departments have their own importance and as the name suggests, each dental department deals upon a specific age group people .
However, some of them say what is the need of learning medical subjects like medicine ,surgery ,pharmacology etc etc. It's just because we the dentistry people need not only to have a look on the oral cavity but the whole body even. It is very important to know the mental health state and the physical state of a patient. It is very important to look on the blood pressure, blood glucose level of a patient who comes for the extraction of teeth.
Why is it necessary to know about the blood pressure, and other things while the mbbs doctors can check on them ?
Indeed it is very important to know how to measure one's blood pressure, pulse rate ,to check on the Anemia, diabetes ,etc. It is important for a mbbs doctors too . In dentistry, it is because there are certain cases where the patients get anxious about the treatment and their blood pressure level shoots up.
While treating a geriatric patient,he might be anxious how the treatment might work? He might not be comfortable and henceforth it might lead to serious complications further .
It is very important to earn the trust of a patient before performing the treatment.
It is also important to say the patient about the treatment plan and the phases included in the treatment.
It is of great importance to know the local language where the dentist works ,it is because to earn the trust the patient. By earning the trust , the patient becomes comfortable with the doctor and it eases the dentist too to perform the treatment.
So dentistry is not mere a dentistry. It is of great importance to check upon one's Oral health every 6 months. This is because the oral cavity health shows the health of the entire body.
