Hello all!!! Hope you all doing good and here's my new blog about breastfeeding and it's importance…let's begin …,

Breastfeeding is the feeding method, in which mother's breast milk is fed to the child. Milk from breast is expressed by hand or pump to fed the child.

World health organization recommends that baby should be fed within the first hour after birth to create a bond with mother.

Then new born should be exclusively breast feed for six months of age and can continue till two years of age.

After few hours of birth, mother tends to produce a thick, yellowish fluid which is high in protein and low in sugar and fully loaded with nutritious compound should be fed to the new born.

It's the milk that helps the new born's immature digestive system to develop. After few days, mother's breast start producing huge quantity of milk as the baby's stomach grows.

Breastfeeding has much more benefits for both baby and mother. Some of the benefits of breastfeeding are as follows:

Benefits to the New Born:

  • Breastfeeding decreases the risk of Respiratory tract infections.
  • Breastfeeding helps in reducing the development of type 1 diabetes and development of type 2 diabetes in later life.
  • Breastfeeding is linked in reducing risk of ear infections, gut infections, common cold and infections etc..,
  • Breastfeeding provides ideal nutrition to the baby.
  • Breastfeeding helps the baby to gain healthy weight.

Benefits to the Mother:

  • Breastfeeding helps the mother to shed the extra weight that gained during pregnancy.
  •  Breastfeeding helps in shrinking of uterus after giving birth. Breastfeeding promotes shrinking of uterus.
  • Breastfeeding helps in lowering depression.
  • Breastfeeding may prevent menstruation.
  • Breastfeeding saves money and time.

Composition of breast milk :

Breast milk made of millions of live cells, More than 1,000 proteins made of amino acids.

More than 40 enzymes with vitamins and minerals and loaded with antibodies.

Breast milk contains water of about 87%. Live cells, growth factors, good bacteria, proteins, enzymes, minerals and antibodies.

I'm ANNABREEZE (Dietician and Nutritionist)  I'll suggest Exclusive Breastfeeding for six months and after six months of age can start weaning food along with Breastfeeding. And should continue breastfeeding for atleast two years of age.

Hope this blog help new mom's and gives you clear idea about breastfeeding.
